Indefinite extension to CE marking permissibility #legalmetrology#weightsandmeasures
A sensible outcome but a pitifully inept process to reach it. The costs to business and confusion for regulators, public alike have been collosal. What now for #UKCA?

Trading Standards provide a vital service checking that consumers are getting what they pay for. A petrol pump was found to be under-dispensing today and was disqualified. Only Inspectors of Weights and Measures can do that. @CTSI_UK
Good luck to all students sitting the @CTSI_UK CPCF Weights and Measures professional interviews this week. 20 minutes to answer 5 questions sounds like a lot, but it can fly by! 🍀🤞⚖️
A wonderful photo on a bright and sunny day as our legal metrology inspectors continue their excellent work up and down the country!

Bulk fuel training today by @socotss for the Scottish weights and measures students. Thanks to the very nice folk at East Ayrshire TS for organising this and at Campbell Fuels in Kilmarnock for letting us loose on one of their vehicles 👏
@garygilmore77@CTSI_UK Access to measuring instruments approvals is getting trickier. EU NBs allow access to their database base for EU member states and Notified Bodies. Following Brexit we are neither.
Attending WELMEC WG5 today and presenting on the benefits of EMeTAS for @CTSI_UK. Fascinating to hear about the market surveillance initiatives taking place in the EU.
Latest statutory #weightsandmeasures Act report published by @OfficeforSandS, snapshot of UK #legalmetrology activity during 2021/22.
Report also highlights concerns of front line #tradingstandards services in being able to fulfil this essential function.

@TimesFeedback why, on the same page, is Frankie Boyle described as a Scottish comedian, but Jimmy Carr isn't described as an English one? (Saturday review, Thursday 25, Viewing guide).
First practical weighbridge testing session today for officers and trainees in the @socotss Scottish Trading Standards Approved Body. Thanks to Edinburgh TS for donating a testing day 👍
Modern fuel dispensers have a calculator module that works out how much you pay, and a calibration switch to adjust how much you get. Very important these are sealed to prevent misuse. Found one this morning with seals removed. (LH pic is how it should look)
Heating oil is not subject to the energy price cap so it's more important than ever that to make sure consumers are getting the correct quantity. The price has more than doubled in the past year. Routine bulk fuel accuracy testing by Trading Standards is essential.
