@f_flipp@jordantcarter Given the absolute disaster that fibre roll out has been in Australia, I think it can only be viewed as a positive legacy here in NZ - it's probably his only unarguable positive legacy though?
@2covet Quick answer - no they haven't. It would be good if they did!
Longer answer - it's quite a complicated area, as freedom campers are quite a broad church, from tourists, to recreational users, to homeless so getting an overall workable solution is tricky.
@GrahamSpiers Had the standard "if I took a year off work and trained really hard, I could still make it.." thought the other day.
I'm 35 and never got beyond division 6 in the pub leagues, but still one part of my brain is convinced it's true!
@TheSewphist @2TAPU@ReaverBait @pixelbrid Was chatting to a second hand shop owner about this last week. So many beautiful sets that have sat in a cupboard for 50 years - never get used, then end up being donated/sold, or taken out to find a cup is cracked and years of pleasure have been missed! :(
Hey .@metlinkwgtn what's the point of having a timetable if your buses just leave when they want?
If a bus is supposed to leave at 5.11, why is it already gone when I arrive at 5.08?
@andrewtychen It's not ideal.
Not having further options in the census is one issue if companies want to make sure that their sample is "representative" of population.
There's also a lack of clarity about terminology - Stats NZ previously suggested "Gender Diverse". Better alternatives maybe
@WgtnCC The shower issue is an interesting one...
Could WCC offer a "facilities" pass at Freyberg/Thorndon, so that people could change and shower but not use the pool etc?
@N3rdyByN4ture@DigitalMaori Drive round Miramar peninsula and south coast.
LotR site at Kaitoke.
Cable car and Botanic gardens.
Visit to the Dowse.
Paekakariki Escarpment.
Day in Martinborough/Greytown.
Cruise to Matiu-somes island.
City walking tour.
Walk up Kaukau/Mt Vic.
That's my usual go to list!
@adzebill That data is a bit of a pain. It says 60,000 freedom campers, but that is people who freedom camped at least one night. The number who freedom camped for the majority was closer to 12,000.
The sample is also pretty small.
Basically, we need better data on freedom camping!
@adzebill Defining freedom campers is pretty important to getting to the root of the issue.
The journalist falls into this trap when pulling out the "freedom campers spend more" line.
That includes anyone who freedom camped just one night during their stay, not the majority of nights.
@John_Arab @JimSpenceSport @FrPaulStone@Barcabhoy1@McNallyMirror 10, 12, 18, 20 or 42 team top flight is irrelevant.
Youth development and coaching is the problem - we aren't competitive because we aren't producing players of sufficient quality.
In layman's terms, we're shite, and will continue to be until we accept this and try to fix it!
@TuskCulture It would be interesting to repeat the same study with a non-engaged audience.
Do they see museums as a place for conversations, and do museums as sites for these conversations make them more or less attractive for the non-engaged population?
