Safe Motherhood is not just a health issue, it’s a shared responsibility. From antenatal care to skilled birth attendance and postnatal support, every step matters.
Let’s work together to ensure no woman dies while giving life.

Today, I visited the El-Rufai’s to condole Mallam El-Rufai and the family on the passing of his mother. What moved me was that he was the one consoling me over the situation in Borno. Even in his grief and sorrow, he still carries Borno in his heart.
@PhateemahAbuba5 Polygamy can magnify emotions—jealousy, hurt, insecurity are human, not a failure. What helps is honest communication, clear boundaries, fairness, and emotional reassurance. Each person’s feelings deserve validation, not comparison. 🌿
The needle might be small, but the impact is MASSIVE. 💉
From newborns to grandparents, @NPHCDA is building a shield of health across Nigeria, one immunization, one clinic, one community at a time.
This is what #HealthyNigeria looks like. And it’s growing. 👏
🛑 One small jab. A lifetime of protection. Measles & Rubella are not “just childhood illnesses” — they can cause blindness, brain damage, miscarriage, and even death. 💉 The Measles–Rubella (MR) vaccine is safe, free, and effective.👶🏽👧🏾 It protects our children.#MeaslesRubella

Today, representing the Coordinating Minister of Health, Professor Ali Pate, and in my capacity as Global Programme Director of the D8 Health and Social Protection Programme, I joined eight other Ministers of Health from the D8 countries of Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Turkiye at the inaugural meeting of Health Ministers. The meeting was held under the theme Innovation, equity, and resilience as a cooperation framework.
My address on behalf of Nigeria was guided by the D8 vision of advancing sustainable socio economic development through cooperation, solidarity, and shared responsibility. I emphasized our commitment to health as a fundamental human right, a strategic investment in human capital, and a cornerstone of equitable, inclusive, and sustainable growth. I also noted that this meeting is taking place at a defining moment for global and regional health, when the lessons of recent pandemics, the rise of chronic diseases, and the growing impact of climate change call for renewed, science based, people centred multilateral action.

As part of our continued commitment to improving early years outcomes and tackling stunting under the Human Capital Development (HCD 2.0) agenda, I recently co-chaired the second meeting of the Analytical Advisory Group (AAG) alongside the Special Adviser to the President on NEC, Rukaiya El-Rufai.
Stunting and Early Childhood Development remain top priorities within the HCD framework. The AAG serves as the technical backbone for coordinated analytics and implementation support, driving the operationalization of HCD 2.0.
Our focus remains on efficiency, strategic prioritization, and evidence-based budgeting to ensure measurable and sustainable impact.
The word "empathy" contains a "path" to grace.
“Empathy (“the ability to understand and share the feelings of another”) is otherwise a decency so missing from those who govern the lives of others as to have become a joke in public life, the last thing of which to be proud, a sign of weakness for the majority of our leaders.
