D£TAILS:
The deep indigo that fills most of the canvas >
This is the weight of the quiet hours, the nights when everything feels too heavy and too quiet at the same time. It’s the colour of held breath, of thoughts that refuse to settle, of the kind of tiredness that sleep doesn’t fix.
The thick red and brown strokes across the bottom >
These are the practical, grinding parts of the pain: the constant calculating, the money that never quite reaches, the feeling of carrying something that keeps dragging you downward. The scraped-away parts show where you’ve tried to push it off or pretend it isn’t there, only to leave the surface more raw.
The figure with her back turned >
She is ME in the middle of it. Not performing strength, not performing collapse, just existing inside the feeling. One arm wrapped around herself is the private self-protection no one else sees. The hanging hand is the part of ME that still remembers what it was like to reach for something that isn’t there right now. Her body dissolving slightly into the blue shows how the pain can make a person feel less solid, less fully present in their own life.
The small floating papers and fragments >
These are the remnants of effort: receipts, numbers, half-finished plans, the little pieces of proof that i’ve been trying. Some still catch light. Most are already sinking. I have refuse to disappear completely, which is both a burden and a quiet form of persistence.
The thin gold light at the very top >
This is the part that still exists beyond the current darkness. It hasn’t reach ME yet. It hasn’t rescue ME. But it is still there… a narrow reminder that the night is not the only colour available.
The overall texture >
Where the paint is thick and forced, the pain has been lived repeatedly. Where it is thin and scratched, earlier versions of hope (the coral, the green, the small blue square) are still buried underneath. Nothing has been fully erased.
The painting is not about defeat.
It is about the exact moment of holding on when holding on is the only thing left to do.⚜️🦢💕
