Your buddy's hat is gated by rarity.
Common: nothing.
Uncommon: crown, top hat, propeller.
Rare: halo, wizard hat.
Epic: beanie.
Legendary: tiny duck.
The tiny duck hat requires a 1% legendary roll. A shiny legendary with a tiny duck hat on a specific species is ~1 in 180,000.
Anthropic hid tamagotchis inside Claude Code. Type /buddy and you get a terminal pet. Species, rarity, stats, shiny status. All deterministic, all from a hash of your account UUID.
I got a Common turtle. No hat. Baseline stats. That had to be fixed.
Same UUID in, same buddy out. Reinstalling changes nothing. The pipeline only cares about the UUID string.
buddydex brute-forces millions of UUIDs per second to find ones that hash to better buddies.
I gave Claude full access to the / directory of a Linux virtual machine.
I then asked it to create a "child" Claude that it can talk to and do anything together.
I gave it a domain and it figured everything out on its own. You can watch the stream here: https://t.co/qoesugO06V
