On May 12, 2022, a young Christian student named Deborah Samuel Yakubu was killed by a mob in Sokoto, Nigeria.

She was a student at Shehu Shagari College of Education.

The killing happened in the daytime, inside the school environment.

Her fellow students accused her of insulting their religion in a WhatsApp group. This accusation quickly spread. A mob formed. Instead of allowing school authorities or the police to handle the situation, the mob took the law into their own hands.

She was attacked and killed publicly.

Many people recorded videos during the attack.

These videos spread across Nigeria and the world. In the videos, some of the attackers did not hide their faces. Some even spoke proudly about what they did.

After public anger and pressure, the Nigeria Police Force announced arrests.

Two suspects were arrested. Their names were Bilyaminu Aliyu and Aminu Hukunchi.

They were taken to court on May 16, 2022, just four days after the killing.

But something very important happened at this stage.

They were not charged with murder.

They were not charged with killing Deborah.

Instead, they were charged with criminal conspiracy and inciting public disturbance.

These are lesser crimes.

These charges do not carry the same punishment as murder.

This immediately raised serious concern, because Deborah was clearly killed, and the killing was recorded on video.

The case was assigned to Chief Magistrate Shuaibu Ahmad at the Chief Magistrate Court in Gwiwa, Sokoto.

The responsibility of proving the case belonged to the police prosecutor, Inspector Khalil Musa.

His job was simple and clear.

He was supposed to come to court.

He was supposed to present evidence.

He was supposed to bring witnesses.

He was supposed to prove the case.

But this did not happen.

On many court dates, Inspector Khalil Musa did not show up in court.

When the prosecutor does not appear, the case cannot continue.

The court cannot prosecute a case by itself.

The court must rely on the prosecutor to present the case.

Because the prosecutor kept failing to appear, the case could not move forward.

At the same time, the suspects had very strong legal protection.

They were defended by a large team of 42 lawyers.

The leader of the defence team was Professor Mansur Ibrahim.

This means the suspects had full legal support.

They had lawyers present in court.

They had lawyers ready to defend them.

But the prosecution, whose job was to seek justice for Deborah, repeatedly failed to appear and failed to present the case.

This created a one sided situation.

The defence was present.

The prosecution was absent.

Because of this, the judge could not continue the case.

On January 30, 2023, Chief Magistrate Shuaibu Ahmad struck out the case.

When a case is struck out, it means the court ends the case due to lack of prosecution.

The suspects were released.

They left court as free men.

They were not convicted.

They were not punished.

They became free.

Up till today, nobody has been convicted for the killing of Deborah Samuel Yakubu.

Even more disturbing, some of the main attackers seen clearly in the viral videos were never arrested at all.

Some of the people who openly participated in the killing were never brought to court.

This means the situation ended like this:

Deborah was killed in public.

Videos showed the attackers.

Two suspects were arrested.

They were not charged with murder.

The prosecutor failed to pursue the case properly.

The court struck out the case.

The suspects were released.

Nobody has been convicted.

Justice was never completed.

Dear @officialEFCC, I am still demanding an answer or a public statement.

Around 3:00 a.m., EFCC officers used a master key to open my room, entered with guns, pointed one at me, and harassed me.

I have a simple question: WHY?

I am not hiding. I am demanding an answer because EFCC has nothing to do with religion, yet I have already suffered years of persecution because of my Christian faith and my work as an Ex-Muslim evangelist.

I have survived attacks. I have escaped several assassination attempts. I lost a colleague in one of those attacks, and I have been arrested and imprisoned before. Because of everything I have been through, I cannot treat an armed midnight raid as "normal."

When someone has already faced repeated threats to his life, every action that puts him in fear deserves a clear explanation. I will never allow anything that could become a threat to my life to be swept under the carpet.

I am not above the law, and I respect lawful investigations. But every law enforcement agency must also respect the rights and dignity of citizens. Accountability is not too much to ask.

I am calling on the EFCC to explain why this operation was carried out in this manner. Nigerians deserve transparency, and I deserve answers.

Many people have asked me if I am afraid

My answer is no

I am not afraid because my life is in the hands of Almighty God

The Bible says in Psalm 118:6

The Lord is on my side I will not fear What can man do unto me

I know what it means to bury those I love

I know what it means to wipe the tears of children who watched their parents murdered

I know what it means to stand before grieving families whose only crime was refusing to deny Jesus Christ

Now they say I will be next

But I ask the world

What is my crime

Is my crime that I speak for widows who have no voice

Is my crime that I cry for orphaned children whose parents were murdered

Is my crime that I tell the stories of persecuted Christians in Nigeria so the world will not forget them

Is my crime that I preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and refuse to remain silent while innocent people are killed

If that is my crime then I will continue until my last breath

Jesus Himself warned us in John 15:20

If they persecuted Me they will also persecute you

I did not choose this path because it is safe

I chose it because truth must never bow before terror

They may threaten my life but they cannot silence the truth

They may kill the messenger but they cannot kill the message

Romans 8:35 says

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ Shall tribulation or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword

The answer is no

Nothing can separate us from His love

Today I ask the world not to look away

Remember the widows

Remember the orphans

Remember the innocent Christians who continue to suffer simply because of their faith

Stand with us in prayer

Stand with us in truth

Stand with us in demanding justice for every innocent life

And if one day my voice is silenced let the world remember that I never carried a weapon

My only weapon was the truth

My only mission was to defend the persecuted

My only desire was to let the world know that the blood of innocent people cries out before God

In 1970, four Lagos officials travelled to Sweden and paid £68,000 for 98 used buses to serve as city buses in central Lagos.

Four months later, the deal became a media scandal in Sweden after reports revealed that the buses were already 17 years old and had been marked for demolition because they were no longer considered roadworthy.

The Swedish State Commission for Traffic Safety said there were no spare parts available to restore them. Yet, by the time of the report, 30 of the buses had been retouched and were ready for shipment to Nigeria.

She asked a legitimate question. A South African minister publicly labelled Nigerians as drug dealers, and a Nigerian journalist asked for accountability.

Instead of answering, suddenly the question was “disrespectful” and she was threatened with being kicked out.

At this point, I genuinely believe some South Africans are simply intimidated by Nigerians. The hostility is becoming irrational. You cannot publicly stereotype an entire nationality and then become offended when a Nigerian has the audacity to question you.

In the course of their job, there was serious tensions between NELAN and the Umahi administration over project control and payments. According to the families of the 5 engineers, the Umahi government allegedly wanted NELAN to “take a back seat” so the state could exercise direct control, issue payment certificates, and give instructions to contractors. The then governor Umahi reportedly wanted NELAN to sign/approve certificates of satisfactory completion for work supervised or executed by other engineers/contractors — something NELAN refused, arguing it violated AfDB contract terms, their professional obligations, and risked the firm (and possibly the project) being blacklisted by the AfDB.

On November 3, 2021, the 5 engineers left Enugu for Ebonyi state in an official Toyota Hilux with registration ERR 001 EB for site supervision but never came back till this very moment neither were their remains found till date.”
