{وَقَالَ یَـٰبَنِیَّ لَا تَدۡخُلُوا۟ مِنۢ بَابࣲ وَ ٰحِدࣲ وَٱدۡخُلُوا۟ مِنۡ أَبۡوَ ٰبࣲ مُّتَفَرِّقَةࣲۖ وَمَاۤ أُغۡنِی عَنكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن شَیۡءٍۖ إِنِ ٱلۡحُكۡمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِۖ عَلَیۡهِ تَوَكَّلۡتُۖ وَعَلَیۡهِ فَلۡیَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلۡمُتَوَكِّلُونَ}
"And he said, O my sons, do not enter from one gate but enter from different gates; and I cannot avail you against [the decree of] Allāh at all. The decision is only for Allāh; upon Him I have relied, and upon Him let those who would rely [indeed] rely".
LESSONS:

Prophet Yaʿqūb (Jacob, peace be upon him) advised his sons to enter Egypt through different gates as a sensible precaution against attracting unnecessary attention, envy, or suspicion. This demonstrates that taking appropriate means to protect oneself does not contradict tawakkul (reliance upon Allah). Rather, true faith combines careful planning with complete trust in Allah.
2. No human being can prevent what Allah has decreed.

Theme: A Muslim should have hope in Allah through patient reliance (Ṣabr and Tawakkul) and absolute trust in Him
{قَالَ إِنَّمَاۤ أَشۡكُوا۟ بَثِّی وَحُزۡنِیۤ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَأَعۡلَمُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ}
"He said, I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allāh, and I know from Allāh that which you do not know".
LESSONS:
1. Complaining to Allah is an act of worship, not a sign of weak faith.
Yaʿqūb (ʿalayhi al-salām) did not suppress his pain; rather, he directed it to the One who could remove it. The believer pours out their heart to Allah in duʿā', prayer, and sincere supplication instead of allowing despair to consume them.
2. Patience does not mean the absence of grief.
Yaʿqūb wept until he lost his eyesight, yet he never objected to Allah's decree. True ṣabr is enduring hardship without losing faith, hope, or obedience to Allah.
3. Never lose hope in Allah's mercy.
His confidence, "I know from Allah that which you do not know", reflects unwavering optimism in Allah's wisdom and promise. Even when every visible sign points to hopelessness, Allah can open doors that no one imagines.
4. Faith grants a perspective beyond immediate circumstances.
While others judged the situation by what they could see, Yaʿqūb trusted in Allah's unseen wisdom. A believer's outlook is shaped by faith in the Divine, not merely by present realities.
5. Turn to Allah before turning to people.
Seeking help from others is permissible, but the heart's ultimate dependence should rest upon Allah alone. He is the One who hears every whispered prayer, understands every hidden sorrow, and provides relief at the most appropriate time.
O Allah, You are the Knower of every sorrow and every hidden pain. Grant us beautiful patience, strengthen our trust in You, remove our hardships, relieve our grief, and never allow us to lose hope in Your mercy. Make us among those who turn to You in every difficulty and who remain steadfast until Your relief arrives. Āmīn.
Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds. Q6:162
