PRESIDENT TINUBU APPROVES FRAMEWORK TO UNLOCK $50 BILLION IN DEEP OFFSHORE INVESTMENT

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a new investment framework aimed at unlocking up to $50 billion in deep offshore oil and gas investments and reviving major projects that have remained stalled for years.

The framework replaces project-by-project negotiations with clear, transparent and predictable investment rules, beginning with the approximately $10 billion Bonga South West project.

The reform is expected to attract long-term capital, increase oil production, create skilled jobs and strengthen Nigeria’s local oil and gas supply chains.

It will also promote greater Nigerian participation in engineering, fabrication, marine logistics, technical services and project management, positioning Nigeria as a regional hub for deep offshore development.

The framework, implemented through the Deep Offshore Oil and Gas Projects Incentives (Tax Remission) Order, 2026, gives investors greater certainty while ensuring Nigeria derives stronger long-term value from its resources.

TROOPS ARREST FLEEING KIDNAPPING SYNDICATE COMMANDER, RECOVER FOUR AK-47 RIFLES IN ENUGU

🚨 Another major blow to kidnappers in the South East!

Troops of the 82 Division/Joint Task Force South East, Operation UDO KA, working with the DSS, have arrested a notorious kidnapping syndicate commander in Enugu State.

The suspect was caught while attempting to flee the state following intelligence-led operations into the abduction of two persons in Udi LGA.

The operation also uncovered a weapons cache containing 4 AK-47 rifles, 7 magazines and 133 rounds of ammunition. Cash and other incriminating materials were also recovered.

With intelligence gathering and joint operations tightening the net, kidnapping syndicates are finding it increasingly difficult to hide, move or operate freely.

The message is clear: the heat is on, and the security forces are coming for the networks behind these crimes.

REPORT: The Yoruba Broadcasters Association has urged the Lagos State House of Assembly to enact a law mandating regular Yoruba-language programming on all broadcast stations operating in the state, describing the move as necessary to preserve the Yoruba language, culture and identity.

The association also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to grant at least one major national interview in Yoruba, as part of efforts to promote the use and visibility of the language.
