THE UNSPOKEN POWER STRUGGLE AROUND THE SUPER EAGLES CAMP (Team media structure & Representation)
One of the most dangerous problems in Nigerian football we must address after governance is the way media access around the national team has grown into entitlement, not structure, and how that entitlement now shapes narratives around the team.
The Super Eagles @NGSuperEagles camp is supposed to be a controlled performance environment where the coach has authority over preparation. But even basic decisions like a closed-door training session are now turned into public controversies. Suddenly, it becomes “what is the coach hiding?”, “why are players being restricted?”, and unnecessary narratives start forming before a ball is even kicked.
One of the camera men came here during the last afcon to tell us he spent millions to come to Morocco for content and Eric chelle should not restrict access, the entitlement!
That is not journalism in a structured system. That is influence without boundaries.
This is not an attack on journalists or legitimate media work. Infact it is an attack but both miketgepundit and co are so stupid you will think Oganla learnt foolishness from him, but The issue is the absence of clear enforcement, accreditation discipline, and protected training protocols. Because when structure is weak, access turns into entitlement.
Today, media access is treated like a right without limits. Players are constantly available, not because it is scheduled, but because silence is punished online.
Players who ignore them will be silently stained by small narratives, they are nearly using the camp to farm popularity status so players must give them audience, they almost hated ademola Lookman because he doesn’t give a shit or give shi shi.
Most players are now scared of what the narrative will become of them if they don’t become object of social media farming because the media guy control the narrative.
Eric chelle is forced to defend normal technical decisions. Even closed training sessions a standard practice in serious football nations …. are turned into suspicion and narrative warfare.
And once that pattern is allowed to grow, it becomes bigger than access. It becomes control over perception.
That is where the problem lies.
The national team cannot operate in an environment where every coaching decision is instantly filtered through agenda-driven interpretation, and where external voices can pressure the atmosphere of a camp that should be protected.
The solution is simple but non-negotiable: accreditation must mean access control, interview windows must be enforced, and closed-door training must remain exactly that…. closed, without apology or forced explanation.
The Super Eagles camp is not a public debate space. Or a studio for streaming or TikTok live, the coach and the want results not content… and every decision towards that is final.
Football must be protected first. Everything else must operate within structure.
Structure!!!!!!!
A £50k a year salarary in 1990 would be around £150k in today's money.
A £50k salary in 2026 would be around £17k in 1990.
Tell us again how we have it easy?
Nayib Bukele just built the Greatest Hospital in South America called Hospital Rosales. It will Treat Citizens FREE. Total Cost Building + Furnishing $61m (N83billion)
Tinubu used N15 trillion to Build Coastal Road.
N15 trillion divided by N83 billion =
181 Hospitals 😢🙆🏽♂️💔
