Give it some thought before deciding on a Tata car!

I spent ₹28 lakh on a Tata Safari expecting premium build quality, but frequent hardware failures have made ownership a nightmare. Despite following the escalation path Area Customer care Manager Mr. Ramesh Unnikrishnan, Deputy General Manager Mr. Shaji Valasseri and General Manager Mr. Venugopal Reddy from Tata Motors’ (Kerala), no real solution has been provided.
To make things worse, both Mr. Ramesh and Mr. Shaji claims that these failures are “common” in diesel vehicles after 50,000 km. So, is Tata officially admitting that their premium cars are only reliable for 50,000 km? After that, customers must pay out of pocket for failing hoses, pipes, and other components—none of which are covered under warranty or even extended warranty!
In just 3 years, I’ve had to replace several major components, which is completely unusual and unacceptable. After multiple escalations and follow-ups, Tata only covered the cost for the Tensioner & Idler and 50% of the ₹12,000 Shock Absorber cost under “Goodwill”. But even that shows their so-called premium vehicle can’t last beyond 50,000 km without major failures.
Here’s a list of components I’ve had to replace in just 3 years of ownership:
* Steering assembly Unit (A known issue with early models of Safari and Harrier is likely to re-occur in every 45K-50K Kms as per service advisors)
* Major AC Unit Assembly (Still uncertainty as the part should not fail at all)
* Both front disk units
* Turbo Unit
* Drive Belt
* Idler
* Tensioner
* Rear RH Shock
* Air Inlet Hose
* Coolant Pipe
* Coolant Hose
* Heating Plugs
I now spend an average of ₹10,000 per month just to keep my car running, and each hardware replacement takes nearly 5 days, possibly due to high failure rates and spare part shortages.
For those considering a Tata car, be ready for high maintenance costs and a backup vehicle, because yours will likely spend a lot of time in the service center. This is probably why people prefer Toyota and other brands over Tata, despite Tata being an Indian brand.

This is how they treat you in police station. I had the same experience at @bandepalyaps. They refused to file an FIR and just gave an acknowledgment report and never investigated the matter.

After refusing to give me change or taking payment by UPI, the BMTC conductor assaulted me and verbally abused me. Attaching the video here.
