There are thousands of Kalyan Bainslas roaming freely on the streets of Noida, Ghaziabad, Delhi, Faridabad, and Gurugram.

The weakness of the police in these respective cities has empowered them to think that they are above the law.

Every day, you can see Scorpios with black film, modified Thars, Cretas with “Jatt,” “Gurjar,” or “Tyagi” written on the rear glass, and speeding Fortuners at every corner of these cities.

They are proud of their dehatipana and uneducated background.

The chacha-taus of such Bainslas are part of the police force, and they belong to politically influential communities, which makes them feel superior to everyone else on the road.

DELHI TRAFFIC WILL SUFFER. BUT IS THAT A REASON TO WHINGE? LOOK AT WHAT DELHI IS HOSTING.
BRICS brings 11 member countries, 10 partner nations to Delhi. This means a lot of multiple high-security movements every day. And because the BRICS Summit is taking place in the backdrop of conflict and global upheaval every VIP movement means secure corridors, traffic regulation, access controls and route coordination. Agreed, traffic disruption is a real pain. Delhiites have every right to complain. But Delhi is also becoming the capital of global diplomacy. It is now at par with other global cities Brisbane, Hangzhou, Glasgow, New York where the world descends to dialogue, to shape its future. Each of these cities also see the same traffic chaos. But most also understand that GLOBAL DIPLOMACY HAS A LOCAL COST.
The question is whether we can acknowledge the inconvenience without losing sight of what India is increasingly being trusted to host.
Today it's BRICS. Tomorrow it will be OLYMPICS.

तिब्बत - चीन के ग्यिरोंग में आई अचानक और भीषण बाढ़ की चपेट में हमार��� कैलाश यात्रा का एक दल आ गया है। लौटते समय, जब यह त्रासदी हुई, वे सभी इमिग्रेशन ऑफिस में थे। ऐसा अंदेशा है कि उस इमारत और शहर का एक बड़ा हिस्सा इस बाढ़ से गंभीर रूप से प्रभावित हुआ है।

हम सभी, हमारे वॉलंटियर्स और सहयोगी दल गहरे आघात और दुःख में हैं। साथ ही, राहत और बचा�� कार्यों में सहायता के लिए हर संभव प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं। इमिग्रेशन ऑफिस में मौजूद लोगों के बारे में अभी तक कोई आधिकारिक जानकारी नहीं मिल पाई है। हम अधिकारियों के साथ मिलकर लगातार काम कर रहे हैं ताकि जल्द से जल्द उस जगह तक पहुँचा जा सके। इस बचाव कार्य के लिए हम किसी भी स्तर का जोखिम उठाने को तैयार हैं।

हमारी इस यात्रा के 21 समूहों में से 495 लोग सुरक्षित लौट चुके हैं। 743 लोग अभी तिब्बत में हैं, 148 लो��� नेपाल में हैं, 77 लोग इमिग्रेशन केंद्र में थे, और 3 वॉलंटियर्स नेपाल के टिमुरे में हैं।

हमारे दल के सदस्यों के परिजनों, प्रियजनों और इस आपदा से प्रभावित अन्य सभी लोगों के प्रति मैं अपनी गहरी संवेदना व्यक्त करता हूँ। आपका दर्द मेरी अपनी पीड़ा है। इस अत्यंत कठिन घड़ी में हम हर संभव प्रयास कर रहे हैं। ��ैं स्वयं इस क्षेत्र में उपस्थित हूँ, ताकि इन कठिन परिस्थितियों में जो भी सबसे बेहतर किया जा सकता है, वह सुनिश्चित हो सके। 🙏🏽

Perhaps history deserves a little more say before we decide what “Indian culture” permits. Agree with your take completely

Putting aside whether the advertisement got the festival itself right or wrong, I find the debate around the women’s clothing rather curious.

If clothing is being questioned in the name of "Indian culture", have we stopped to look at our own history?

The sculptures at Konark. The Ellora caves. The Dancing Girl from the Indus Valley civilization.

Some of them are among the oldest windows we have into how people in this land lived, dressed and expressed themselves.

So I wonder how we arrived at such a narrow idea of what is “appropriate” for an Indian woman to wear.

We should know our traditions well. We should also know our history well enough to understand that Indian culture has never been as simple or as restrictive as we some make it out to be.

Perhaps we just need to be a little more aware of our own history before deciding what needs to be protected in its name.
