Yeh aadmi aliens ko kuchh to code bhej raha hai... No one on earth is able to decide what those numbers means what will go wrong if numbers are not in order?
Proud of this kid. He seems amazing. Humbly, It feels like your channel is exploiting him to invalidate other kids. Maybe the next time a bridge collapses you could interview someone who took a longer route to work and got promoted. Instead of engineers or people under it.
For generations, The Indian Express has believed that credibility is earned — story by story, fact by fact. The real shift came when we stopped fixing queries one by one and started studying usage patterns.
Which data is read far more than it is written
Which data changes rarely
Which data must always be real time
Which data can tolerate delay
Those answers mattered more than any index
That is what finally stabilised the system.
Not one big rewrite.
Not more hardware.
But understanding how small decisions behave when multiplied across the country.
At national scale, tiny assumptions become big problems. Follow for real lessons from building at scale here...
Caching then became a design choice, not a performance patch.
Some caching happened at entity level.
Some at AWC level.
Some at individual record level.
Combined with simpler queries and fewer joins, database pressure dropped sharply.
If you rush, you break things and lose people.
If you move steady and clear, the entire system moves with you. The third skill is to keep things simple.
Simple flow. Simple screens. Simple expectations.
The more you complicate things, the more friction you create.
It is usually workflow, clarity or simple habits.
If we fix that, the tech part becomes easier. The second thing that people ignore is patience.
Large systems move slowly because so many people are part of it. It takes time to align everyone and build trust.
This is something many tech teams ignore, but it decides success or failure. Before writing any line of code, I spent time listening to the real users Frontline workers, supervisors, state teams, everyone.
Most of the time the problem they face is not technical at all.
When people think about building a national platform, they think of big servers, complex code and huge data.
But in my experience, the real challenge starts much earlier. It starts with understanding people and how they actually work in the field.
If you focus on these three, your technology will stand strong even at massive scale. I will share more such learnings in the coming days. Follow along if you enjoy real stories from real work.
A national platform grows only when it is simple enough for everyone to use with confidence. So the most underrated skills in building a national platform are not rocket science. They are listening, patience and simplicity.
