stuck between a rock and a hard place.
damned if you do, damned if you don't.
you see how exactly how they love and work and react, and then you understand book 1 a little more poignantly coz this is how they are/were.
also ang serious ni diane, mej di ako sanay
so, bakit ako umiiyak while reading this chapter? 😭
oh, MC and AL 🥺 you are both so dear to me ☹️💙
we’re down to the last 2 chapters!! grabe, otornim! salamat po sa ‘yo at sa buhay mo! 🫡 sobrang galing at ganda po ng pagkakasulat 🥺💙
Sa ganda ng pagkakasulat, even readers without an AML background will understand the severity of the situation, grabe talaga yan sya 🫡
(Di pa ulit tapos magbasa)

How ironic that one of the conflict in this chapter, was at some point MC forgotten or failed to see at first, in book 1, good thing she was able to realize, remember and got her 2nd chance. As for AL, no wonder she wanted to retire early & build their sanctuary, pahamak yung corpo world niya sa lovelife. It consumes her, it consumes them.
I’ll leave the parents issue untouched for another day 😂
What destroyed me was when AL said, ‘I’m trying to protect you,’ and MC answered by asking for trust instead. Because that’s the whole conflict of this chapter. AL thinks love means sacrifice. MC thinks love means partnership. AL wants to carry the burden alone. MC just wants to hold her hand while carrying it together. And honestly, knowing their future, MC was right.
Looking back after knowing they almost divorced but still chose each other, the line ‘Don’t disappear and call it care’ hits differently. Because that wasn’t just about this chapter. That was their entire journey. Every time fear, family, trauma, or pride tried to separate them, they had to learn that leaving isn’t always love. Sometimes love is staying, even when staying is terrifying. 💕💕💕
The masquerade wasn’t just backstory, it was destiny written in fragments. It showed that before love had a name, before identity and history complicated everything, AL and MC already chose each other in the simplest way possible: by staying when they could have walked away. 🥹🥹
