This was the same player who arrived in international cricket by taking on Jofra Archer and never looked back. Between 2021 and 2023, he wasn't just the best T20 batter in India, he was arguably the best in the world.

The SKY-Virat partnerships became a cheat code. He walked in during the toughest phase of a T20 innings, dominated the middle overs, played shots nobody else could imagine and took games away from opponents. Bowling plans simply didn't exist against him.

Then came 2024. While many expected Hardik Pandya to take over, the selectors backed SKY as captain. It raised a few eyebrows, but he responded brilliantly. India kept winning, he embraced the aggressive brand of cricket, and the team flourished under him.

But cricket moves fast.

The same player who once looked undroppable suddenly found himself battling form and fierce competition. Not because he became a bad player, but because Indian cricket has an endless queue of talent waiting behind every position.

Whether the decision is fair or unfair, its difficult to tell. But one thing is certain.
