Do Toronto residents who are not employed at major media platforms use X/Twitter, or is it simply an echo chamber for political consultants, politicians and political analysts?
Instagram and TikTok seem to be far more rich with working class people, ordinary residents and a mirror of the voting public.

Rising tides raise all boats; and that includes mine. The future I want to live in implicitly requires improving the conditions of the working class.
Whether my motivations, for being an active co-author of Toronto’s future, are altruistic or self indulgent is… irrelevant if *both* result in the working class receiving the:
→ same benefit
→ attention
→ resources dedicated toward priority issues *from the perspective of the working class*.
I can appreciate your gentle skepticism, though. I’ve been invested in social impact for over a decade. It’s extended into adjacent pathways, like politics, as of 2022.
And it’s been an ugly and agonizing solitary journey until recently.
My point:
I’ve been here for years with only my own sense of commitment to People Focus Change as a guiding light.
The alternative to being proactive in politics, for me and many people outside of elite, is enduring the hellish landscape born from the predatory policies of Doug Ford, and puppets like Brad Bradford who have historically abused office (ex., ethics investigation into illegal fundraising, misappropriation of public information beyond the scope of what was meant for, et al).
In either case, I expect a bit of wariness from the public in the earlier days of this campaign; and I’m okay with that so long as we’re all agreed that skepticism isn’t synonymous with pessimism.
The former is mine to navigate. The latter is a distraction and speaks to anxieties that are not mine to resolve.
If “public safety” means billions for concrete, but pennies for prevention… our prison system will remain a revolving door that prioritizes profits over people.
That money could be driving down recidivism, and mitigating the conditions that lead to crime, by investing in:
→ long term rental affordability for the working class
→ integrating mental health access as amenity services in apartments/condos
→ vertical farming + aeroponic/hydroponic systems on under utilized city own roofs (ex., Create TO manages 8.4K city owned buildings) to help combat food security.
We’re all agreed that violent offenders should face the fullness of legal consequence, but we spend a disproportionate amount of resources on managing the symptoms of crime, rather than the root cause.
If I were Mayor of Toronto:
I’d unlock our $27B real estate portfolio to fast-track affordable housing.
•Micro-units & low-rise builds
•Tiny + prefab homes
•Repurpose 8,400 city-owned buildings
We don’t lack space. We lack a Mayor and City Council who understand that we need to move with urgency.
The working class cannot afford to wait.

Universal Basic Wellness | Episode 001
"Universal Basic Wellness: A Three Fold Approach" to working toward sustainable solutions toward rental affordability, food scarcity and mental health built into our urban design. UBW is the first Policy Pillar of my Mayoral Campaign. We will spend Week 2/25unpacking the fullness of this policy pillar in everyday language, and then subsequently become more granular with our policy deep dive and analysis.
In the interim, Join me as I become The Next Mayor of Toronto on People Focused Policy platform in Partnership with Local Business.

If defeatism is the foundation of your thinking around issues affecting the working class like housing affordability, food insecurity, mental health, and public drug use, then you are standing in the way of progress.
Real progress requires people who are solution minded, solution driven, and solution first thinkers.
As the next Mayor of Toronto, I will champion policy that balances idealism with pragmatism.
Every policy will clearly identify the problem it solves, include measurable KPIs to track success, remain lean and agile, and be evaluated based on real outcomes for working people.
If something is not working, we pivot; and if it works… we scale it.
Government should operate with accountability, adaptability, and a relentless focus on improving quality of life for everyday people.
If you want to be a part of the solution, than join me as I Become The Next Mayor of Toronto. #toronto #onpoli #canadianpolitics
Whenever people tell me Becoming The Next Mayor of Toronto is impossible...
I remind them that a single Mother raising kids from infancy to Excellence should have been impossible too.
Mothers are proof that impossible things are always possible.
I always encourage, and would genuinely prefer, people to feel comfortable speaking their mind — at least with me.
I am many things, but “thinned skinned” and reactive are not on that list.
We must all ultimately stand in agreement that our success or failure, as the working class or “The People”, will be intrinsically dependent on one another (ex., specifically our capacity and willingness to remain united in the ideation, development and implementation of impactful solutions with measurable key performance indicators, etc).
We just can’t conflate constructive criticism with antagonism or petty distracting insinuations.
However… I don’t mind a little razzle dazzle. Keep speaking your mind though!
Hey John. I appreciate you engaging! Instagram and TikTok are where you’ll find me most, but the team and I are focused on just that — 10x our digital presence this month, releasing more formal policy material this weekend and fundraising!
What issue, uniquely as you see it, do you think City Hall and Mayors of old need to pay more attention to?
Career politicians, like City Councillor Brad Bradford, have had a career lifetime, or in this case 8 years... to effect the exact same changes they promise today.
They'll happily receive a salary increase from $137,537.40 to $170,588.60, and then in that same breath try and convince you that they too understand the struggles of the ordinary person.
At some point, if they could have induced change, to any measurable and or meaningful scale... they would have. They haven't because they cannot, or because they do not care.
At some point career politicans need to be held accountable to measurable key performance indicators that demonstrate how what they do in office works toward solving the problems of The People as defined by The People.
Toronto needs City Leadership by and from people who are of The People, and incentivized to solve the problems that impact The People as a member of the working class.
That is why I'm running to be Mayor of Toronto.
On a lighter note — a member on my team agreed with you! I have since updated it in its plain text form on other platforms.
The letter here is an image.
Nonetheless, I want to ensure that people genuinely understand that “I” am very much an active listener, and not above negotiating as we co-imagine the future. 😌
City Councillors, like Brad Bradford, giving themselves a pay increase from $137,537.40 to $170,588.60 during a rental crisis… is arguably far more appropriately framed as condescending and bombastic.
I would agree with your criticism if I spoke in the third person… in person.
But even I’m not that… dramatic… ;-)
My 3rd person reference in that specific written piece was done to maintain congruency with other written pieces.
That’s all.
However, I do agree that language exists for the other, in as much as we experience it even while speaking the same one.
I’m confident that my significantly higher/authentic traction on Instagram and TikTok, rather than here, better enable Toronto residents and regional participants to engage with a greater human touch.
I appreciate the feedback, though. Stay tuned for the policy deep this weekend!
Why would that, rather than policy stance, moral compass or social impact, be the defining thing you look at when deciding where and what to take serious? This introductory piece is uniquely written in the third person so as to make it congruent with other team campaign material.
@fordnation The only service window he needs to be at is prison intake…
Imagine smiling like a fool serving fast food to people struggling to pay rent, access healthy food or pay for university in lieu of predatory restructuring to OSAP…
Resign.
