NBI: SPREAD OF FRAUDULENT BIRTH RECORDS COULD THREATEN NATIONAL SECURITY

Atty. Melvin Matibag, Director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) warned against the implications of foreign nationals posing as fake Filipinos with the use of fraudulent birth certificates.

Matibag said fraudulent birth certificate holders could compromise the country's national security.

He, however, assured the public that stringent measures are being implemented to crackdown on fraudulent birth certificates. He added that the NBI is also coordinating with other agencies, including the Bureau of Immigration and the Philippine Statistics Authority.
