I rebuilt my business. This week it went public.
Thirty years running hospitality and food and beverage businesses taught me what it feels like to BUY marketing: the retainers you cannot quite justify, the reports you cannot quite read, the agency you cannot quite reach.
When I built Bigview Digital, I promised myself it would be the studio I would have wanted to hire back then.
The relaunch makes that concrete. The whole studio now runs AI-first: research, drafts and builds happen in a fraction of the hours, and I finish every line myself. Small businesses get agency-quality work at prices that make sense, from one person they can actually phone. Fixed quotes, no lock-in.
One promise underneath it all: being found in the three places customers now look. Google, AI Overviews, and assistants like ChatGPT.
Proudest week in a while. The new site is at https://t.co/apyAdMzjyt if you are curious.
A real week. Enquiries out on UK food and catering businesses. Two packs read line by line. Two walked from on evidence, not nerves. One NDA signed on a catering business.
No offer yet. That wasn't this week's job. Real conversations and real numbers were.

Most good food businesses I look at: the food works, the marketing is asleep. Old reviews nobody answered. A site that hides its own menu.
Not a creative problem, just undone work. It's also why I'm buying in this sector, not someone learning it.

Walked from a second business this week. The numbers were fine. But the revenue lived in the owner's phone and head.
Take the owner out, and you're not buying a business. You're buying a goodbye. If the seller vanished, would Monday's money still arrive?

A Caribbean restaurant crossed my desk this week. I read the numbers like a buyer... then I read the food like a man who grew up around it in the Caribbean.
I didn't choose this sector from a spreadsheet. It's the only room I've ever felt at home in.

I looked at a restaurant this week. Liked it on paper. Then checked the public record before trusting the seller's pack.
The staff numbers didn't match the published accounts. There was a debt to a lender you only use when no bank will. All are excluded from the pack. I walked.
Four brokers in 48 hours this week. Two listings worth reading. Walked away from two.
Due diligence is a job, not a feeling. Unglamorous, but it's the only one that matters before making an offer.

A business I looked at: flat sales for three years, then profit up more than five times in the final year. Same sales.
It looks like a good business. It is really just an unanswered question.
Until it explains itself, the number means nothing.

A broker turned me down this year. He checked the public record before replying.
It didn't match what I'd said about myself, so he passed.
It stung, but it was the most useful thing that has happened so far. I rebuilt everything on what is verifiable.

Don’t blame God for your lack of success. Develop a burning desire to succeed and keep your mind on the things you want and off the things you don’t want.
