🚨 NEW:
The COST of dismissing Michael Carrick and hiring a replacement was a factor in Manchester United sticking rather than twisting. #MUFC [@TheAthleticFC]
‘Michael Carrick will be given time to turn things around’ and ‘the hierarchy do not want to rush next steps’ should be read and digested for what it really is: an indecisive club without any succession planning or contingencies because it doesn’t have clarity of identity in the first place. A club that often takes the cheap instead of the smart or right route because of the crippling Glazer debt, plus decision-makers who are never aligned - except in their own self-preservation. And it ends up costing more.
It explains the chaotic nature of lurching from one coaching philosophy to its extreme, to revisiting candidates that were on the agenda - some as far back as 2019 - that were already ruled out, to having a shortlist of options with nothing in common to take over a mishmash team that has suffered from horrid squad planning; both in incomings and exits.
Blame the players, blame the name in the dugout while the people who brought them to Manchester United, kept them, created the absolute opposite of a culture of excellence are allowed to rinse and repeat.
🚨 Manchester United have decided to continue with Michael Carrick as head coach.
Despite Bournemouth and Como defeats, #MUFC hierarchy decides to give Carrick more time to fix things. Player also informed.
Up next: Chelsea-Man United on Saturday. Carrick will be there.
Michael Carrick will be given more time to turn Manchester United's fortunes around after a meeting of the club's hierarchy on Monday.
Carrick's position as head coach appeared under serious threat following Sunday's 3-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth, a result which left United 16th and without a win in their last eight matches in all competitions.
However, following talks on Monday between the club's senior leadership figures, including co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, CEO Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox, the decision has been made to give Carrick and the players more time.

These will be the PR posts from Manchester United when the new manager is announced!
1. UNAI EMERY APPOINTMENT

Howe’s proven expertise in organizing cohesive, hard-working teams will directly revitalize the squad's physical output and on-pitch movement, ensuring a dynamic, synchronized approach to both pressing and transition play in the Premier League.
4. JULIAN NAGELSMANN APPOINTMENT
Manchester United is proud to confirm Julian Nagelsmann has joined the club's technical structure, introducing a forward-thinking tactical vision to establish a clear, sophisticated modern footballing identity. Nagelsmann’s reputation for pioneering flexible, innovative game strategies guarantees that the team will move away from predictable patterns, providing the squad with the cutting-edge adaptability and long-term direction needed to outmanoeuvre modern opponents.
🚨 Manchester United appointing a CARETAKER manager before a PERMANENT manager for Carrick replacement will be a perfect start.
- a caretaker manager who will focus on the next three games only Chelsea + Roma + Aston villa before the international break.
- a caretaker manager to prepare the ground + motivate the players before the new permanent manager.
- a caretaker manager who can heal the dressing room cracks + set the team ready for the new permanent manager.
Who would you rather want United appointed as a caretaker manager?
**THIS IS THE LAST CHANCE SALOON**
Our club have acted from day one as though the new stadium is already a done deal.
Surveys built around theoretical scenarios, diluting the voices of the very people who fill Old Trafford and have devoted their lives to this club.
There is a rot, a decay, a sense of hopelessness all due to the Glazers and Ratcliffe. They have sucked the life and dignity out of our club.
**Make no mistake. We are at a crossroads**
Act now or wave goodbye to the Manchester United you once knew.
Over the coming weeks, we will lay out clear plans. Plans that demand **ACTION**
And those actions will be down to **YOU, the fanbase.**
Not The 1958. Not another supporters' group. Not somebody else.
**YOU**
You might not like us. You might think we should smash the place up or somehow empty a 75,000 seat stadium.
We don't care what you think of us. It's all irrelevant.
This is bigger than The 1958. Bigger than egos, personalities and petty differences.
**Get behind the action or STFU when the club tramples all over you.**
Stop waiting for somebody else to fight your battles.
Because if we sit back and everything we've warned about becomes reality, don't start complaining that nobody did anything.
**You were warned. You had a choice.**
The plans will be crystal clear. The actions will be crystal clear.
The question is whether enough Reds give a shit to follow through.
**More to follow. Get your notifications on.**
