Oyo Att@ck: T+rrorists Demand W£apons, Money, Law Concessions For Release Of Abducted Schoolchildren — Oyo Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has said t+rrorists holding abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area are demanding w£apons, money, and concessions on future Nigerian laws as conditions for their release.

Ogundoyin made the remarks while addressing the ongoing debate on whether governments should negotiate with k+dn@ppers and armed groups to secure the release of victims.

He said the abductors’ demands go beyond ransom and include items that could strengthen their operations and influence governance.

“To bring these children and teachers back, if it is up to you, will you negotiate with t+rrorists if t+rrorists ask for w£apons, they ask for money, they ask for concessions on future laws of this land as part of their ransom?”

He further questioned: “If you were the governor, will you accept those ransoms? Will you accept that those people should be accepted into that community?”

The Speaker warned that negotiating with such groups could worsen insecurity. “The more you negotiate with these people, the more you embolden them,” he added.

His comments come amid pressure on authorities over the abduction of pupils and teachers during att@cks on Esiele and Yawota communities on May 15, which triggered public outrage and calls for urgent rescue efforts.
