Jackson was born in Hong Kong to 2 athletic parents. Before joining GOT7, he was a sabre fencing champ, winning multiple awards as part of the Hong Kong national fencing team, and came in first at the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championship in 2011! While preparing for the 2012 London Olympics, he was offered a scholarship to attend Stanford University for fencing, but turned it down after winning his audition with JYP entertainment, and moved to Seoul to begin his K-pop training. GOT7 released its first single, "Girls Girls Girls" from its debut EP 'Got It?' on 16 January 2014.

On 29 April 2016, GOT7 held their first concert in Seoul, with Jackson performing his self-composed songs "I Love It" & "WOLO" with Yugyeom & BamBam.
In 2019, he released his self-written and self-produced 1st solo album, 'Mirrors'! The Album peaked at #32 on the Billboard 200, becoming the highest-charting debut album for a Chinese artist in Billboard 200 chart history! On March 20, Wang released his self-written single, "100 Ways", which became the first song by a Chinese and K-pop Solo Artist to debut on Mediabase's U.S. Top 40 radio chart! On September 4, Wang released the EDM hit single "Pretty Please", a collab with Swedish duo Galantis, followed by the Chinese-language hit, "Should've Let Go", with Singaporean Superstar JJ Lin in December 2020. That month, he also appeared at the KBS Song Festival, performing Jessi's "NUNU NANA"! Jackson was ranked 41st on ForbesChina Celebrity 100 list 2020! In March 2021, he featured on "Magnetic" with Rain, "So Bad" with Vava and "M.I.A." with Afgan! On March 26, he dropped his new English single, "LMLY", along with a self-directed 90s Hong Kong movie-inspired MV. The song was included in Teen Vogue's list of the best K-pop songs of 2021! In April 2021, Wang performed "LMLY" at the Harper's Bazaar Fashion Icons Party, where he was named "Musician of the Year." He then made his U.S. late-night TV debut, performing "LMLY" on The Late Late Show With James Corden. By June 2021, he was ranked in the top 10 on Forbes China Celebrity 100 and was listed on Tatler Hong Kong Asia's Most Influential individuals in the culture field. In July 2021, Jackson became a mentor on the Tencent variety show, 'Girls Like Us' and released a remix of Rich Brian, NIKI, and Warren Hue's "California"! That year, Jackson won several awards, including "Best Male Artist of the Year" at the NetEase Indie Music Awards, "Most Influential Male Singer in Asia" at the Chinese Top Ten Awards and "Best Original Music Award" for the single "Alone" at the Global Chinese Music event! His 2nd album 'Magic Man' (2022) was preceded by the single "BLOW" which he performed at Coachella with "100 Ways". 'Magic Man' hit #15 on the Billboard 200 & #3 on the US Top Album Sales chart! Jackson kicked off his world tour with a sold-out concert in Bangkok on November, 26, and continued to sell out shows in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, London and Paris. The tour continued in North America, Mexico and South America. On April 14, 2024, Jackson stole the show at Coachella once again, performing "Feeling lucky" with BIBI as part of 88rising's 'Futures' set. On 26 April, the English single & MV was released by 88rising. Jackson released his third studio album Magic Man 2 on 18 July, 2025, which was preceded by the hit singles "High Alone", "GBAD", "Buck" and "Hate to Love". 'Magic Man 2' debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200, becoming the highest-charting album by a Chinese artist in US chart history. His world tour kicked off in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 3! On
December 5 and 8, Wang caused a sensation at iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball Tour in Los Angeles and Chicago, respectively.

Jackson is also a TV star and has hosted many hugely popular TV programmes! In December 2014, he starred in his first variety show, 'SBS' Roommate', and was later awarded the Newcomer Award at the 2014 SBS Entertainment Awards. In December 2016, he was named Variety Star of the Year at the Tencent Variety Show Star Awards! In January 2017, Wang was awarded the Popular Artist of the Year award at the Sina Weibo Awards! In December 2017, he was named the Breakthrough Singer of the Year at the Tencent Video Star Awards!

Jackson is also a successful entrepreneur, and in 2017 he founded his own record label Team Wang, and its subsidiary fashion brand Team Wang Design.

Jackson is a world fashion powerhouse and global ambassador for Louis Vuitton, causing a sensation at each Paris Fashion week, always seated in the best front-row area! He is also a Global Ambassador to Cartier and Armani Beauty and a global brand partner of Nike/Jordan. Jackson creatively directs TEAM WANG design and drops bold, East-meets-West collections and high-profile collabs with brands like Palm Angels, Billionaire Boys Club, and PSG. Sharp, versatile, and unapologetically stylish.

Jackson is also a Philanthropist, and is focused on real impact, supporting kids, health, and disaster victims..
