I have attended the annual Erin Mills Tennis Club Barbecue for the past 11 years (minus COVID). During this time, I’ve had the privilege to watch kids grow up, see families come together, and witness the incredible community building opportunities that this club creates. Developing the skilled trades is a critical part of Canada’s economic growth.
To achieve this, the federal government has:
▸ Invested up to $6 billion in recruiting, hiring, and training skilled workers, including $2 billion for paid, job-ready placements.
▸ Developed the Build Canada Apprenticeship Service, providing wage subsidies up to $10,000 for first-year apprentices.
▸ Invested $331 million in modernizing apprenticeship training
▸ Redesigned the Apprenticeship Grant, providing up to $400 per week income top-up during mandatory in-school technical training, up to $16,000

Today, the FIFA World Cup comes to a close.

Hundreds of thousands of fans packed the streets of Vancouver, Toronto, and communities across the country to watch the beautiful game and cheer on Team Canada — who played with extraordinary character, resilience, and grit.

We have been hard at work passing multiple pieces of legislation to keep our communities safe. Over 80 changes to the Criminal Code related to bail and sentencing are now law. We also passed legislation to better protect victims and combat hate.

In addition, we are investing in public safety by providing funding to hire more RCMP officers and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers.

We will continue working with all levels of government to help ensure the safety and security of all Canadians.

The Bail and Sentencing Reform Act is now law.

These reforms strengthen Canada's bail and sentencing framework by making it harder for repeat and violent offenders to obtain bail, introducing tougher sentencing for serious crimes, and providing stronger protections for victims, first responders, and communities.

Keeping Canadians safe means ensuring our justice system is fair, effective, and focused on public safety.

The smell of smoke in the air this morning is a reminder that the effects of wildfires reach far beyond the fire line.

It also reminds us how deeply connected we are to the environment around us. The air we breathe, the forests that sustain us, and the natural spaces we often take for granted all play a vital role in the health of our communities. Our environment deserves the same care and commitment we expect for our communities.

We remain deeply concerned about the escalating conflict and humanitarian crisis in Sudan. I am calling for an immediate end to the violence in El-Obeid alongside my G7 counterparts. Civilians must be protected, humanitarian assistance must reach those in need safely and without obstruction, and all parties must uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law and international human rights law.

An immediate cessation of hostilities must open the way to good-faith negotiations toward a permanent ceasefire, while accountability is pursued for violations committed by all parties. Canada remains steadfast in its support for the democratic aspirations of the Sudanese people.
