Why GPS Alone Isn't Enough for a Self-Driving Robot?
GPS tells a robot where it is.

But it doesn't tell the robot everything it needs to know.

A few centimeters of error can matter when a robot is navigating around obstacles.

And GPS can become unreliable indoors, near buildings, underground, or in areas with poor signal.

That's why autonomous robots combine GPS with sensors like:

📷 Cameras
📡 LiDAR
🧭 IMU
⚙️ Wheel encoders
The robot doesn't rely on one source of truth.
It fuses multiple measurements to estimate where it actually is.
This is one of the ideas that made me appreciate how much happens behind the scenes before an autonomous robot can simply "go from one point to another." 🤖
