Exclusive - as reported on @ndtv - what really happened onboard Air India Express Boeing 737-800 flight from Tiruchirapalli to Sharjah. Attributed to senior Air India Express sources:
* Boeing 737-800 jetliner took off and retracted undercarriage normally.
* Cockpit Master Caution sounded shortly after undercarriage was stowed successfully.
* Sensors detected that oil had drained out of the hydraulic system which governs the use of the undercarriage.
* The aircraft flew normally in all other respects. The 737-800 has hydraulic system redundancies.
* Pilots decided to return to base and chose not to go in for an over-weight landing.
* The aircraft flew for an extended period of time to enable fuel to be burnt off to ensure the all up landing weight was acceptable to make a normal approach to Trichy.
* Undercarriage was manually deployed and locked into position at the first attempt.
*Aircraft made a normal landing.
