Last night, I had an encounter with the Nigerian Police during a stop and search.
I already had a very long day, and I was just heading home to sleep around past 12. I asked for a search warrant.
• Is a police uniform legally a search warrant in Nigeria?
• Can an officer search you without consent or a warrant?
• What are a citizen’s rights during stop and search?
I want facts, not vibes. Lawyers, activists, please weigh in. We all need to know our rights.

The officer said his uniform is his warrant.
That being in uniform gives him the right to search me.
I refused. Told him he's wrong for saying that, and he's unprofessional about it.
So I need knowledge.
@ARISEtv The incompetence is why terrorism is upscalling in Africa. In SA, it is war on Nigerians and SA females.
Citizens call for international help because you all have refused to do the right thing. And here you are calling on the UN for urgent action. LOL 😁
@dolawanle I usually prefer driving myself. I don't usually feel comfortable when someone else drives me. A lot of drivers in Nigeria are driving without licence, and those with licences just want to claim ownership of the road, putting others in harms way.
