Sorry, it's jusss way too many replies to address one by one, so I won't be able to reply to everyone personally. But yeah, seeing the takes here, I really want to say something and add a few crucial points to clear things up for everyone in the thread. First of all, I don't hate Starlink or Elon. I love tech, and like anyone else, I’d be hyped to test a dish myself. But will I use it as my main daily internet? No way, because our Indian oligarchs are already handing us near-gigabit speeds and unlimited data for absolute pennies, so why would anyone waste their hard-earned money just to show off a plastic dish on their roof? And to that genius in my replies comparing our domestic internet to a cheap Tata car and Starlink to a luxury BMW hahahaha lovely comparison bro, but what "BMW quality" are you even talking about? Domestic fiber is laid underground, runs 5 to 15 ms ping, doesn't give a damn about heavy rain or storms, and gives 3.3 TB data with Netflix, Hotstar, and Prime bundled in for like ₹500 to ₹1,500 a month. Meanwhile, your "BMW" satellite internet sits at 30 to 60 ms ping, the speed drops the second monsoon clouds roll in, and it gives zero OTT subscriptions while charging ten times more. If that’s your definition of luxury quality, good luck to you.
And some people said my ₹30,000 dish kit and ₹8,000 monthly price were just made up because Indian pricing isn't officially out yet. Okay fine, let's look right across our border at Bangladesh where Starlink is officially running right now. In Bangladesh, the standard dish kit is around 47,000 BDT which translates to roughly ₹33,000 to ₹35,000 upfront. Their monthly subscription sits between 4,200 and 6,000 BDT, which is around ₹3,000 to ₹4,200 every single month, while local fiber broadband there costs just 500 to 800 BDT or around ₹350 to ₹600.. That means Starlink is literally 50 times more expensive upfront and almost 10 times more expensive every single month! That's why in Bangladesh it's only used by ships in the sea, military, and rich resort setups, not everyday people. So to everyone arguing that 11,000 remote villages in India are dying for Starlink, do you really think a villager or small village shopkeeper who thinks twice before doing a ₹200 phone recharge is going to buy a ₹35,000 dish and pay thousands every month? 🙂 That’s not helping poor people; that’s rich-people tech acting like charity. Plus, India has over 1 billion internet users, and almost all of them use mobile internet on their phones. Fixed broadband is just a tiny percentage, and a Starlink dish only gives a standard 15-meter Wi-Fi radius inside one house it doesn't beam magical free Wi-Fi to an entire village. Meanwhile, BSNL is already putting up towers in those remaining border pockets under government projects for actual pocket change.
Then one moron commented saying I don't understand the difference between price and freedom, and that Starlink is great because it's uncensored and not blocked like in India. Seriously bro? You think having zero security checks on satellite airwaves is called "freedom"? Go preach this fake freedom to the families who lost people in the 26/11 Mumbai Taj attack, Pulwama, or 9/11. For keyboard warriors sitting safely at home, real terror attacks and border wars probably look like an action movie with popcorn, but in real life, open unmonitored communication lines on sensitive borders like Manipur or Kashmir will be used by terrorists and militants within seconds. Every serious country in the world asks for local data servers and lawful security checks so enemies can't exploit them. SpaceX is literally a US defense contractor tied to Starshield and US laws, which means if any geopolitical tension happens, the US government or a private CEO can press a button and turn off satellite beams over India. India already learned this lesson in the Kargil war when our GPS access was blocked, which is exactly why we built our own NavIC and protect our own networks.
And look at the ultimate comedy that Elon just tweeted asking "Starlink is licensed in 165 countries, is Ambani the real boss of India?" Look at how desperate the deflection gets. The Indian government literally chose administrative spectrum allocation which is what Elon demanded against the telecom auction route that Ambani and Airtel pushed for. Your own VP Lauren Dreyer admitted that Starlink had to build 20 ground gateways in India to comply with data staying inside the country. The holdup isn't Ambani; it is the Ministry of Home Affairs and Indian intelligence vetting local lawful interception (NATGRID/CMS) and verifying that a foreign US defense-linked network won't become an open security loophole along border conflict zones. Just yesterday Elon was on X clarifying that "Starlink beams are turned off over India" to dodge questions about terminals found in Manipur. On one hand, you claim you can switch off beams over sovereign airspace at will, and on the other hand, you cry on X that local security clearances are just "Ambani's monopoly". No serious nuclear-armed nation hands over its sovereign communications backbone without verifying security controls, no matter how many countries approved you
And when the US bans Huawei and slaps a 100% tax on BYD electric cars, the whole world calls it "national security." But when India asks a foreign satellite company to follow Indian security rules and data laws, suddenly you guys start crying that oligarchs are blocking freedom. Like I said, massive respect to Elon for his mind, his bank balance, and for making electric cars and reusable rockets and also he's inspired a lot of us every day. But India is just an entirely different game. Those Silicon Valley theories don't work in front of cutthroat unit economics. If you want to sell in India, you need jugaad, trust, and massive quality at dirt-cheap prices. Nobody is scared of competition, but when your dish costs 50 times more, gives worse ping than underground fiber, and doesn't want to follow national security rules, crying about oligarchs on X won't save you from basic Indian maths.
Word of the Day: Embarrassed
One month ago, it was claimed that women at Eiffel Tower were removed because a BAPS delegation was visiting.
Many in India lamented a global embarrassment, typical ‘Indian mindset’, ‘regressive Gujarati behaviour’
A probe has now found that the visitors never asked for it. It was ‘collective dysfunction’ and distortion of a message.
My salute to the Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary bravery.
Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster.
He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals.
I wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery.
He is a true hero.

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
Never Forgive - Never Forget
When river cauvery & kollidam carried more blood than water !!
1323 Invasion: Ulugh Khan (Muhammad bin Tughlaq) invaded Srirangam ( TN) via water while camping in Samayapuram, intending to destroy the temple and idols.
Sacrifice of 12,000 Vaishnavas: Unprepared devotees held off the invasion and gave their lives in massive numbers along the Kaveri and Kollidam rivers so that sages like Swami Vedanta Desikar and Pillai Lokachar could safely evacuate the deity (Utsavamurthy) and sacred scriptures.
40 Years in Exile: The sages continued worshiping the deity in hiding for 40 years until Hindu forces regained power and restored the deity to Srirangam.
Srirangam remains the largest functioning temple today, and festivals like Panguni Uthiram can still be celebrated, because of this sacrifice—ending with the call to
"Never forgive, never forget"
History may repeat if we appease & be secular!!!
You cannot go to Kargil and shout at our men in uniform that I pay taxes.
Go and tell that to mother of Captain Vikram Batra. She will ask you to take your money and give her son back 💔
Destroyed the Cockroach mindset.
Take a bow @smritiirani 🔥
What happens when seeds start getting extinct? Who controls food production?
Remember how Modi Govt awarded Padma Shri to Rahibai Soma Popere also called “beej mata” for protecting India’s indigenous seed varieties for future generations-we need more such seed mothers
This “we are Gen Z” has become the new “jaantay nahin ho mera baap kaun hai”. The quickest way to erode any Gen Z goodwill is to start using it as a threat at the slightest perceived affront.
There is something wrong with Instagram. It is not a social media platform anymore
It has become a platform that uses algorithms to serve illicit content
Instagram is becoming as dangerous as the Dark Web
Disgusting
The Sabarmati Express Godhra massacre of Hindus, narrated by a Pakistani news anchor.
No Indian news anchor has ever narrated it this clearly or without filters.
None has dared to speak the truth.
Shri Dharmendra Pradhan is one of the finest public servants I know. He cares deeply about the youth of this nation, and particularly about rural students. We have had many discussions on how to better skill our rural youth.
I am sad to see him resign. He has put the nation above self, and my respect for him is even greater now.
Thank you for your service Pradhan-ji, please keep fighting the good fight 🙏
A uniform does not make a person feel less pain.
Behind every badge is a beating heart, a family and a promise to serve.
Seeing on-duty police personnel assaulted is deeply disturbing.
Disagreement can have a voice.
Violence should never have a place.
