I spent my entire day finding companies abroad that are actively hiring remotely. I found a few companies all hiring remote workers and compiled them into one sheet.

Went down the rabbit hole on this one. Your brain burns 20% of your body's total energy. It weighs 2% of your mass.
Per gram, it costs 10 times as much to run as muscle. And it barely changes its energy consumption whether you're solving calculus or staring at a wall. A focused mental task increases brain energy use by less than 5%. The difference between "thinking hard" and "doing nothing" is not how much fuel you burn. It's where the fuel goes.
When you don't give your brain a specific task, it defaults to something neuroscientists call the Default Mode Network, a set of brain regions that fire up when you're not focused on anything external. It runs your inner monologue. Rehashes old conversations. Simulates future arguments you'll probably never have. Replays embarrassing moments from 2014.
A 2010 Harvard study tracked 2,250 people via a smartphone app, pinging them at random moments to ask what they were doing and thinking. Result: our minds wander 47% of our waking hours. Nearly half your conscious life, your brain is somewhere else. And the people whose minds wandered most were consistently the least happy, regardless of what they were doing. How often your mind drifts predicted your happiness 2x better than whatever activity you were doing at the time.
When you give the brain a goal, the entire system reorganizes. The prefrontal cortex takes over, activating your brain's reward and motivation pathways. A 2022 Nature Communications study found that goal-relevant information enters through the prefrontal cortex, triggers dopamine neurons, and creates a self-reinforcing motivation loop. Your brain literally rewards itself for pursuing something meaningful.
A 2026 review in Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience found that flow states, those moments of complete task absorption, partially quiet the Default Mode Network. Less DMN activity meant less self-evaluation, less rumination, and lower anxiety. A twin study of over 9,000 people found that people who experienced flow more often had lower rates of depression, anxiety, and roughly 4% lower risk of heart disease, even after controlling for genetics.
The longevity data makes it real. A 2022 Harvard study tracked 13,000+ adults aged 50+ for 8 years. People with the strongest sense of purpose had a 15.2% mortality rate over that period. Lowest sense of purpose: 36.5%. More than double. The effect held across race, ethnicity, and gender. A separate meta-analysis of 136,000+ people found that a strong purpose was linked to a 17% lower risk of death from any cause. Purposeful people were 24% less likely to become physically inactive and 33% less likely to develop sleep problems.
Dan Koe compressed a lot of neuroscience into one sentence. The brain doesn't idle when you don't give it a goal. It defaults to a mode that burns the same 20 watts but points them inward, toward rumination and anxiety. Give it a direction, and those same watts start building motivation loops, quieting your inner critic, and apparently adding years to your life.
People often say that the developing world is poor because the Western world colonized them and stole their resources.
The truth, however, is that over the past century, the developing world has, for the most part, shown that they are completely incapable of harnessing their own resources. They are not poor because we stole from them. They are poor because they do not know how to run and administer their own countries, resources be damned.
Take Venezuela. The world's largest oil reserves mean nothing if you have a corrupt communist as your leader. People will actually be starving and trying to eat zoo animals while you sit on trillions of dollars in resources!
Africa is another example. Europeans left behind farmland, trains, roads, and mines in Africa. What happened to it all?
It's not that all of a sudden, the Africans started running things like anti-colonialist activists had envisioned at the time. No, no.
All the infrastructure fell into disrepair and/or was stripped down and looted. They were literally handed fully functioning, completed supply chains for resource extraction, and basically unlimited wealth, but they couldn't manage the simple upkeep.
Now, the defense for Africa might be that "The Europeans didn't teach the Africans how to manage any of this! It's not the Africans' fault they couldn't run it independently! They were never trained!"
But my brother in Christ, the Europeans DID try to train locals for management! Obviously it would have been easier to have at least some locals in administration, rather than having to import an ENTIRE workforce, but efforts to find African talent were largely unsuccessful.
Don't believe me? Just look at the different outcomes in Hong Kong and Singapore when compared to Africa. In East Asia, Europeans often did work with locals in administrative and management capacities. When colonialism ended, Hong Kong and Singapore were able to manage themselves. Not the case with Africa.
Now, none of this is to say that colonialism is good. People have the right to self-rule and seld-determination. However, the idea that colonialism and resources extraction are responsible for the developing world's ongoing poverty? That is quite simply a crock of shit.
Take every advice or way of life people portray on social media with a pinch of salt.
You are an adult, develop a mind of your own and think for yourself. Filter what you see here.
A lot of people are not who they claim to be on social media. The movement, contents and agendas they post are just contents to them. People live two faced life. They brainwash and manipulate you to join their movement meanwhile they do the exact opposite of what they preach/post here.
Some of you have ruined good relationships and friendships in real life because some accounts posted misleading things and because you don’t have a mind of your own, you judged your loved ones with the lens of social media bias. People who don’t know them like you do.
You don’t understand conflict resolution by dialogue, you don’t know when to extend grace or when it is due to let go, you don’t apologize when you are wrong because somehow, they have convinced you to think you are never the problem.
One day, you’ll wake up and you’ll realize the damage these things have done to you. You’ll look back with so much regret because you refused to grow up and have a mind of your own. Because you refused to believe that the people you look up to are humans who are just as flawed as you are.
The reason government programs are so inefficient is that, unlike a commercial company, the feedback loop for improvement is broken, because they have a state-mandated monopoly and can’t go out of business if customers are unhappy.
No matter how bad the service is at your DMV (sorry to pick on DMVs), you still have to use your DMV, because it’s a monopoly.
Why is the perception of risk towards Africa so skewed?
As an investor with a diversified portfolio across 4 continents—from power to oil & gas, financial services, and healthcare—I can tell you one thing: nowhere else offers the kind of ROI than Africa does.
Successfully implementing a vision or thing requires that one first prays to ascertain God's thoughts on the issue. Once he green lights you, begin your research to find all available information and knowledge on the earth acquired over time on the issue.
Lastly, execute the knowledge with discipline. Stay focused on the objective always. Don't exhalt the challenges you face trying to attract attention or sympathy from others. Delegate what you have to stay focused. Delegation is not just bringing someone else in. It is the right person doing the right thing. Bringing the wrong people on board in the name of delegation will sink your ship.
In 2019, we risked everything. We quit our jobs in finance and moved back to my hometown in Georgia to save my family’s cattle farm from foreclosure. [1 of 10]
