doctor’s duty is to treat patients, not to tolerate abuse and intimidation. When attendants aggressively confront a doctor and start filming her, walking away from an escalating situation is not ego. It is self-defence.

You cannot expect doctors to work under fear of assault and then lecture them about their duty when they try to protect themselves.

Patient safety matters. But doctor’s safety is a prerequisite for that.

It was just another night duty.
She was treating a poisoning patient when a man brought in as a physical assault case allegedly came behind her and touched her 1–2 times.

She immediately asked staff to call his attendants.

Instead of apologizing, they allegedly defended him: "He's an influential person. You can't behave like this with him."
When she said she would file a complaint, the situation escalated.
The alleged threats: "Come outside. I'll shoot you. I'll kill you."

Despite security being present in the hospital, it is alleged that the accused claimed many guards knew him, and shortly afterward the guards on duty left the area.

Imagine being a Female doctor on night duty, trying to save lives while fearing for your own.

Just reading what #Moumita_Debnath went through sent chills up my spine. A woman, a lifesaver who was on duty faced this horror in the seminar hall. My heart goes out to the family and her loved ones - can’t even imagine how they are facing this tragedy.

Independence for me would mean when the women in our country can truly feel secure.
