Hey! My name is Maaz, I am the founder of evalgo®️, a leather accessory brand.
I started this in 2018, ran it for a year and a half then shut down during Covid.
Relaunched it in July 2025, here’s my story:
When I started my business.
My decision was driven by optimistic bias.
I feel that the majority of people do the same.
Be it a startup, content creation, drop shipping, you name it.
We only see the success stories and silently ignore the failed ones.
Even for the ones that are successful, we only see the tip of the iceberg.
If I had to advise my younger self.
I would have advised to get into anything with open eyes.
And by punching holes in every thing you are working on.
When we post reels on instagram, we also post the same video on our facebook page.
But never really thought of facebook that seriously.
Two of our videos went viral on Facebook.
Getting inquiries from Europe, Qatar, and countries where I have never heard of.
I thought facebook is irrelevant, but it seems like people are still very active there.
I was just going through some D2C websites in the US.
And when I compared them to the Indian D2C websites.
They both are very different.
In India there are lot of trust badges, lot of marketing terms used in the keywords.
Big bold COD promotion.
While in the US, many of the websites do not have trust badges.
And forget about the COD.
The difference isn’t design.
It’s trust.
Indian D2C brands have to work 10x harder to convince a customer to pay online.
That’s the real challenge of building D2C in India.
If you are young, stylish and a minimalist.
Then this is the perfect top grain leather wallet for you.

Yesterday night while I was sleeping.
Claude has read my emails, flagged the important ones.
Cleaned my cluttered desktop with thousands of screenshots piled up there.
Organized my downloads folder with 3000 files by identifying them and categorizing them in folders.
I was literally sleeping. This is so amazing and crazy.
@_kaushalshah What strategy would you use to recover the losses from the previous months.
It is very challenging, considering how unpredictable meta is.
And all the variable costs will still be the same.
I am looking for Instagram creators for a collab.
Target audience: 20-39 year olds, mostly men and a few women
Location: India
Niche: Fashion, men's accessories, men's grooming.
Someone who is still growing and has not done any paid partnerships before.
Strong hooks and consistent organic reach.
If someone can recommend any creators, that would be great.
Otherwise, the search is ongoing.
Recently, I have seen so many landing pages built using Claude.
It can be easily identified because Claude uses the same fonts and style in almost all of them.
This is where a good prompt can make a difference.
Being profitable and cash flow positive needs relentless focus on ops and collections.
This gets complicated if you have multiple channels.
If you are founder do get a full time accountant from day 1 to help you sort this.
Do not rely on your CA to do this.
Having your own team means you can focus on metrics that matter to you and fix it in real time.
Have been working on a new and unique design for the past couple of weeks.
This will be our fifth SKU. Very excited for this one. This is a new design that we have never done before.
Top grain leather. Will be launching it soon.
We have been struggling with this from the past couple of months.
I don’t know how other brands are surviving through this.
We as a brand work hard in developing the product, packaging, pay the shipping fee, customer acquisition costs.
But the only companies making money in this D2C space are shipping aggregators and courier companies.
After spending all that the order gets undelivered and RTO.
The outcome is from two scenarios
1) The customer refuses the order as he is no longer interested. That is fine.
2) The delivery boy does not attempts the delivery and sometimes also calls the customer to pick up the order.
Who is accountable? No one.
Brand is the one suffering.
We literally have no control over this.
Very frustrating.
A new photographer messaged me on instagram.
He just started few months back.
He said he can do a much better job on our product images.
I saw his portfolio, was good enough for a beginner.
Hired him.
He took stunning product images of one of our products.
And is now working on another product images.
Sometimes you have to give a chance to newcomers.
Remember that you were also new once.
If you’re a founder under 25, then try as many things as you can. Your risk appetite is big. You can fail several times without losing much.
Once you turn a certain age, get married, have kids, things change a lot.
You cannot take big risks. Have to be calculated and be cautious of what next step you take.
We launched a new product couple of months back.
Genuine leather, unique design. Was getting good sales.
Got initial 50-60 orders in the first month.
Yesterday got a three star review, CPP went up by 400%
Is this enough to conclude that the product is not good enough or what should be done now.
Continuing with this campaign will burn money now I guess.
To all the young entrepreneurs following.
Pls remember, everyone including me will always mostly post the best things about us, our company, our journey.
Very few if any will post the dark side, where you doubt yourself, where you doubt your team and the company.
This is the nature of social media today.
But entrepreneurship is very raw and difficult, with lots of downs and very few highs.
You need to be ready for that.
