Hi, I'm Kal. I live in New Zealand.
Rebuilding my life in my 30s.
For years I thought I wanted more.
More proof.
More money.
More success.
Turns out I wanted less.
Mountains.
Slow mornings.
People I don't have to perform for.
Most people never figure out what they actually want.
I'm lucky. I did. Now I'm building toward it.
What does a good ordinary day look like for you?
Post every day. Reply to everyone. Join an engagement group.
That's the default way to grow.
I'm betting on something slower: ideas good enough that people share them without being asked.
Ask me in a year if I was right.
Writing isn't typing.
It's three walks, a few half-sentences in your notes app, and one idea you can't stop turning over.
The typing is just the last hour.
@buzorszn Money was never meant to buy happiness.
It's meant to protect four things: your time, your energy, your attention, and your options.
Happiness grows in what those four protect.
This is my 5th time starting on 𝕏.
1st time, it was still Twitter. I thought it was only for people into news, which I wasn't. I posted about my interests for a few days, then deleted the account.
2nd time, I was going through a rough period. The only things that helped were books, podcasts, and reading tweets. That account got deleted too, because all I did was consume.
3rd time, I'd pulled myself out of a miserable life and wanted to help people who were stuck like I'd been. I did a 100-article challenge in public, synthesised books, videos, and podcasts, and shared the lessons I'd learned. Then AI started booming, and nobody wanted to learn anymore. Everyone was too busy being shocked by what AI could do.
4th time, I went faceless. I thought maybe my ideas needed to outlast a face. I engaged a lot, but the reply guys wore me down, so I took a break.
Now, the 5th time, I've come back with the life I've decided I want to live, and I'm building everything around it. Writing, sharing, and connecting with like-minded people keeps my head straight.
When I stop taking in good ideas, writing, and sharing, my life starts to spiral. I'm not the best version of myself.
So how long this time? I stopped asking. Every time I left, I came back. That's my answer.
And if you read this whole thing, something's wrong with you. Something's definitely wrong with me for writing a comment this long.

Define your "enough" number before you start chasing more.
Write down what your ideal life actually costs per month.
Most people are shocked by how much smaller it is than the number they're chasing.
