The same Delhi Police which is now taking the moral high ground for informing me about my grandmother’s demise and offering me a ride home came to me at 3:30 in the morning with arrest papers, demanding that I sign them.

Where did all that humanity go at 3:30 AM? Despite knowing that I had just lost my grandmother, they still insisted that I sign the arrest papers. I refused until I was allowed to speak to my lawyers.

I had requested to let me speak to my cousin who lives with my grandmother. Asked for my phone just for a couple of minutes so I could at least take out the number of my cousin.

Why Delhi Police didn’t let me use my phone? I had also asked for a call with lawyer which was again denied.

At 3:30 in the morning, Delhi Police asks me to call my father and inform him that tomorrow I’ll be going in jail for a long time. The same father who has just lost his mother. How much more trauma did you want to put my family through after we already lost my grandmother?

What was the purpose of trying to call my parents at f-ing 3:30 in the morning? You wanted to torment them?

Dhruv Rathee has spine of iron. Imagine being dragged away from your home while you’re sleeoing, your parents being pushed aside all while being abducted like a criminal & through all of this, he still stands his ground.

He even presented proof of his Indian citizenship & now that the right wing’s “he isn’t an Indian citizen” narrative has fallen apart, the goalposts have moved: “So what if he’s Indian? He’s anti-national and deserves to be arrested.”

THIS IS WHAT AUTHORITARIANISM LOOKS LIKE. When facts fail, change the accusation. When evidence destroys one narrative, manufacture another. When you cannot disprove someone’s arguments, brand them a traitor & anti national.

And the people cheering this on? They have absolutely no idea what they are normalising. Today, it is someone they hate. Tomorrow, it could be someone they love. When the machinery of oppression comes for them, their blind loyalty will not save them.

The most heartbreaking part is that these people have become so consumed by hatred that they have forgotten what it means to have empathy, to question power, or to stand up for another human being. They would rather watch someone suffer than admit that their own side might be wrong.

A nation does not lose its democracy in a single day. It loses it every time citizens celebrate the persecution of someone they disagree with. Every time dissent is treated as a crime. Every time blind loyalty matters more than justice.

The undeclared emergency is not just about what a government does. It is also about what its supporters are willing to tolerate, justify and celebrate.

And when democracy finally stops protecting them, they will realise far too late that the very freedoms they helped destroy were the ones they needed to survive.

You don’t have to hate the country to destroy it. Sometimes, all it takes is loving a leader so blindly that you stop caring what happens to the country & fellow citizens.

Result - There are now 50 different Jantar Mantars in and around Central Delhi.
