The U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur is proud to highlight the successful return of four high-value artworks to Malaysia, including masterpieces by Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró.

Valued at about US$198,125, these pieces were recovered as part of the ongoing mission to return assets misappropriated from 1MDB. Their arrival at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya marks a significant milestone in our bilateral partnership.

This success is rooted in the exceptional cooperation between U.S. and Malaysian law enforcement agencies. By working hand-in-hand, we are sending a clear message: there is no safe haven for illicit proceeds.

Chargé d’Affaires David Gamble noted the importance of this milestone:

“Great cooperation between U.S. and Malaysian law enforcement! The United States will continue to pursue justice for the victims of 1MDB.”

As we celebrate this repatriation, the United States remains steadfast in its commitment to pursue justice for the victims of 1MDB and support Malaysia’s efforts to ensure that stolen assets are returned to their rightful home—the Malaysian people.
