Please, note that what I'm about to type is a guess. I can't say for a fact what the butterflies are doing.

The butterflies are all males, trying to get nutrients from the dog. Male butterflies often need to drink water from puddles to get some micronutrients they need to make semen. However, this water is too much for them to interact with directly. If a butterfly's wings get wet, it won't be able to fly again until the wings dry. This means interacting with this volume of water is a suicide mission. That's where the dog comes in.

The dog already entered the water and is carrying some of it on its body. The butterflies can perch on the dogs body, take the little water they need without getting wet. So, the dog solves the problem that the river presents, while still giving them what they wanted from the river. That's why they're perching on the dog.

That's not a grasshopper. That's a mantis. They're ferocious predators. Mantises don't eat dead animals. Whatever they want to eat must be alive while they start eating it. Yes, they do hunt insects, small lizards and snakes. In this video however, I think the lizard was tied down towards its hind legs. People sometimes do this to get dramatic videos.
