This is one of those days when I remember why I try not to tell people I'm a psychologist.

I'm A psychologist. Not YOUR psychologist, and esp not your therapist.

Please. I can't diagnose or treat you. I can listen, and try to refer you, but....don't put me in that position.

My topic area is too dang big. I have at least 2 dissertations in this stupid thing. I THINK I can split them apart and just do one, but I really want to just scrap and start over with something more contained. Ugh.

I hate hate HATE writing in the passive 3rd person. But needs must when doing a dang thesis.

Of course, I know full well I won't get to say "I" in later publications, either. But let me hold onto the fantasy to get through this moment.

@ibheritage Whilst this is great, it also creates inherent stress on ECRs - if you want to keep your post or get a promotion, there's KPIs linked to "proper publication". These won't change till we reach the upper echelons...but refusing to adhere to the current route ensures we never will.
