If you are a Follower of the web 3 meta, then I guess you also have the Urge to become a Developer with the assistance of Claude. Here are some Tips to take note of before asking Claude to build you the next Technological Breakthrough.
1. Your app doesn't need 50 features, Build 3 core features that actually work. Think MVP - what's the smallest version that's useful?
You can always add more later. An abandoned mega-project helps no one.
Version control isn't optional. Even working alone, you'll need to:
- Roll back breaking changes
- Experiment without fear
- Track your progress
GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket; Are Built to make your Vibe Dev-ing Organized & less hectic.
As you gain more experience with the aid of Claude, you should avoid chasing the shiniest new framework. Ask:
- Does it have good docs?
- Is the community active?
- Does it solve MY problem?
Sometimes "boring" tech is boring because it just works.
Future you will NOT remember why you wrote that code.
- Write Comments explaining the "why"
- A README for setup
- Notes on key decisions
Make it understandable to yourself & others.
Testing feels slow at first, but saves hours of debugging later. You don't need 100% coverage, Just test the core functionality that would break your app if it failed.
Don't treat deployment as an afterthought.
Consider:
- Where will it be hosted?
- How much will it cost?
- Environment variables
- Database setup
Local development โ production.
7. Your code doesn't need to be perfect. It needs to:
- Work
- Be maintainable
- Solve the problem
Don't let perfectionism stop you from Building. Progress over perfection.
There are Stack Overflow, Reddit & Discord tech community that's there to Help Build your skill & project, But show your work:
- What you've tried
- Relevant code
- Specific error messages
9. Your first implementation will be messy. That's okay, As you learn you'll want to reorganize. That's not failure - that's growth.
10. ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ญ๐๐๐ญ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐ง๐๐ซ๐ ๐ฒ; Personal projects should be fun & not draining, always;
- Take breaks when stuck
- Step away from bugs
- Don't burn out
Sometimes the best debugging happens away from the keyboard.
BONUS TIP:
The fact that you're reading this before starting already puts you ahead. Now go build something!
