After a year of “scrounger” headlines from the right wing press, I’m so glad to see The Guardian give space to disabled and chronically ill young people voicing the reality for themselves. https://t.co/ycZAgrTiKr
The government has today confirmed, after a week of uncertainty, that they are scrapping the dedicated role of Minister for Disabled People.
This announcement sends an appalling message to the 16 million disabled people in the UK.

He’ll be regenerating again in 3 weeks and you’re still not over his first regeneration

The Tory attack on benefits is performative cruelty. It won’t boost employment or even make big savings. But it will hurt the right people.

Am old enough to have seen previous West backed/supported genocides.
This is different. I have not seen this lack of shame, this brazen lack of even a pretence of caring for human right or basic morality. This is imperial Whiteness laid bare at its most monstrous grotesqueness
we’re seeing literal genocide being live-streamed with support from western governments and australia have voted against the aboriginal and torres strait islander people having a voice in parliament. i don’t want to be a part of this world any more, we have not learnt a thing !!!
i am honestly all out of words for the pain, anger and disappointment i feel at the media’s need to constantly invalidate and shit all over ADHDers. @thetimes@Philippa_Perry we are a group of disabled people that have been repeatedly let down and we deserve better!!!!!!

I’m thrilled to share the cover of my new novel - IN THE SHALLOWS - which is published in February. It was illustrated by Sarah Maxwell, who also did the equally stunning illustration for AFTERLOVE, and was designed by Joana Reis. You can pre-order here: https://t.co/kcvJc8DS7Q
I think one of the biggest things about being disabled that I want other people to understand is how harrowing and hard a process getting disability benefits (which you normally have to do every 3 years!) is. It’s dehumanising and so full of lies and deceit.
@LucyCuthew Oh, yes, thank you for articulating this so well. I loved it (the visuals, Ryan Gosling, the fun of cinemas packed with excitable people all dressed in pink) and will definitely go and see it again, but also… all of the above. 👏
This Barbie graduated MA Writing for Young People with Distinction! 🥳 The MA & book I’m working on bc of it have been gorgeous, intense but essential lifelines through v rough personal times. Writing is how I process the world. Thanks @BathSpaUni for helping me do it better. 🩷
