RANDOM THOUGHT:
The late Clarence "CJ" Johnson — as much a part of the fabric of Charlotte basketball as anyone in local history — is probably smiling, from way up there, watching these NCHSAA playoffs unfold.
On Wednesday afternoon, his grandson, West Charlotte sophomore Kaharri Coleman (@HarriColeman28) had scouts from UNC watch him score 25 points, grab 6 rebounds to go with 3 assists in a regional championship win over previously unbeaten West Forsyth. Coleman picked up an NC State offer earlier this week.
And Johnson said he always felt a special kin to West Charlotte (@DubCLions), a school he "adopted" when he moved to Charlotte from New York.
Then, the basketball power he built, the Mallard Creek girls (@CreekGirlsBB), won their first regional championship, beating Mecklenburg County rival Ardrey Kell.
Now, Johnson's favorite two schools — and his grandbaby — are going to the states.
Not a bad little story that.

North Carolina is dead last in public school funding effort and second to last in public school funding level. Yet, the General Assembly is the only legislature in the country that hasn't passed a budget.

NEVER should someone be moved to end another person's life. Our words should be our weapons - not rage and guns. Our politicians should unite US towards common good. It shouldn't be money or influence that dictates the direction of our country but rather civil discourse.
The Creek continues to rise – Our staff theme is “The Work is the Win.” These results give us a moment to celebrate, but our focus is on the journey.

What a finish to the girls Queen City 3A/4A final. Mallard Creek's Alana Biosse cooly hits 2 FT's to take the lead. North Meck scores a wild bucket to go back ahead. Then Biosse scores at the 🚨 to win the conference title game.
