Dear Zimbabweans, we need to agree on one thing before the World Cup opening match: which team will we be supporting between Mexico and South Africa?๐ค๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฆ
"Only two years later, Yeltsin would help lead Russia through the dissolution of the USSR."
Our leaders travel very often to first world countries, and will gladly officiate at the official opening of a borehole in an urban area that had running tap water ten years ago.
In 1989, Russian President Boris Yeltsin visited a Houston grocery store and was astonished by the abundance, later describing it as a moment of despair for the Soviet people.
In 1989, Boris Yeltsin stepped into a Randallโs supermarket in Houston, Texas, and was stunned. The aisles stretched endlessly, lined with colorful packaging, hundreds of cheeses, frozen meals, and soft drinks stacked to the ceiling. For a man raised under Soviet rationing, it was an epiphany wrapped in disbelief.
Yeltsin, then a member of the Soviet Politburo, later wrote that the experience made him โsick with despairโ for his countrymen, realizing that ordinary Americans enjoyed luxuries unavailable even to Soviet elites. The abundance of choice, mundane to shoppers around him, revealed the vast chasm between communist idealism and capitalist reality.
That supermarket visit became more than a curiosity; it was a crack in the foundation of the Soviet worldview. Only two years later, Yeltsin would help lead Russia through the dissolution of the USSR.
The store he visited, a Randallโs Supermarket in Clear Lake, Texas, became briefly famous after the trip; employees recalled that Yeltsin spent nearly 20 minutes marveling at the pudding cups.

Tomorrow, I will be in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, to officially commission the Presidential Borehole Scheme on behalf of His Excellency, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.
This historic initiative is completely non-partisan, rooted in the foundational belief that clean, potable water is a fundamental right for every single citizen, and that no person and no place should ever be left behind. Operating under the theme โMvura Kuvanhuโthis event is a testament to what we can achieve when we prioritize tangible development and community empowerment.
I invite you all to join hands and come together in a spirit of unity to celebrate this monumental milestone for Bulawayo. Our journey forward reminds us of our ultimate collective responsibility: Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo.Let us unite to drive our country forward.

So his major crime is becoming a successful businessman just like Elon Musk?
Why do we hate our own instead of emulating them the same way we emulate people from other nations?
President Mnangagwa conferred awards on 22 female recipients at the Zimbabwe Women Excellence Awards, recognising leadership across political, social and economic spheres.
Among the honourees are First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, Minister of Defence Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Barbara Rwodzi, Chief Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza and Attorney General Virginia Mabiza.

๐ On this day in Zimbabwe Cricket history (29 May 1999)
Zimbabwe produced one of the greatest victories in the nationโs cricket history, stunning South Africa by 48 runs at the Cricket World Cup in Hove.
Few gave Zimbabwe a chance. South Africa arrived as one of the tournament favourites, boasting a side packed with stars including Hansie Cronje, Jacques Kallis, Allan Donald, Lance Klusener and Jonty Rhodes.
But Zimbabwe rose to the occasion.
Neil Johnson delivered one of the finest all-round performances by a Zimbabwean in World Cup cricket, scoring a brilliant 76 before returning with the ball to claim 3 wickets. Murray Goodwin added a vital 40 as Zimbabwe posted 233/6 from their 50 overs.
When South Africa began the chase, Zimbabweโs bowlers refused to relent. Henry Olonga struck key blows, Heath Streak led from the front, and South Africa were eventually dismissed for 185.
The result sent shockwaves through the cricketing world and remains one of the defining moments of Zimbabwean Cricket History ๐ฟ๐ผ
