@footballmemorys One thing missing from that picture. The proper, historic Football League trophy. Were Everton presented with it? All the pictures I’ve found from 1985 only show the Canon trophy. In 1987, they were given the historic one.

Over the years I’ve seen and heard fans and pundits saying ‘bring in video technology’. People suggesting we should ‘hear referees explain their decisions’. And ‘let fans hear the #VAR discussions’. Well here we are, Pandora’s Box has been opened.

From my perspective, I think it’s crucial that football doesn’t allow players and coaches to get involved in the refereeing of games, and that’s the big danger of an appeals system.
