@1eyeinrumney@CollegeOptomUK The same is true in Devon. Patients prefer to have a choice of providers and as we have seen from other sole provider contracts, such as DVLA visual fields and DRS, access can be restricted with patients having to travel further and satisfaction worse.

An exciting development for early detection of Parkinson’s disease. Optometrists would be well placed to deliver such a screening test. #primarycare#optometry#OCT
This summer, in the run up to #NationalEyeHealthWeek we are inviting children across Devon to design an eye-patch and take it to their local opticians. We hope this will raise awareness of amblyopia and promote regular sight tests for children.

@Danielhm2020 I love my community glaucoma clinics. Busy, challenging and lots of decision making but very rewarding. Patients are so appreciative of the service. Have a great day!
@1eyeinrumney@OptometryToday@The_AOP@FODO1@CollegeOptomUK We have seen similar centralisation of optometric services in Devon with the DRS services being removed from convenient community practices in favour of ‘local’ hubs in awkward places with poor bus services. Needless to say, many unhappy patients.
@1eyeinrumney@OptometryToday@The_AOP@FODO1@CollegeOptomUK CHEC amongst others are seeking to expand into optometry enhanced services diverting patients and income away from true community practices who are already delivering these schemes safely, effectively and with excellent patient satisfaction.
👁️ The theme of #WorldOptometryDay2023 - "expanding optometry's role" - couldn’t be more relevant.
Optometrists working in Opticians across our local communities are underutilised.
My Bill would fix that by ensuring better commissioning to join up primary and secondary care.
The campaign #IsYourVisionRoadworthy coordinated by the National Police Chiefs’ Council @PoliceChiefs and supported by @The_AOP, will launch in spring. Ahead of the campaign launch, organisers will be running a vision and driving webinar. Find out more ➡️ https://t.co/XEqH2Zs3rc
@VorneDie @natzeh@nhkopticians@Hoya_UK The vision ought to be good but sometimes it can take a little while to adapt to a new prescription. If you still have concerns about the vision after a week or so of adaptation then speak to your optometrist.
@The_AOP Whilst an uplift in GOS voucher values would be welcomed it would be far better to properly fund GOS sight testing so that spectacle wearers don’t have to subsidise sight testing for the entire nation.
