@HannahIamthest1 Marvellous book. Bought mine over 50 years ago and still got it. Book 2’s awesome as well - got me through to playing tenor and treble. Must have another go at the Cuckoo Song…
“But then, the absolutely crucial thing to grasp about the Post Office scandal is that there are two classes of people in this story – the sort of little people who go to prison, and the sort of big people who wrongly send them there, yet fail upwards thereafter.”
The little people big people lens seems an apt one for the present crisis at the heart of @churchofengland also.
I endorse wholeheartedly what my safeguarding colleagues have said here. I was appalled by the insensitivity of the speech towards victims and survivors. https://t.co/QNgfusjafM
Anglicans have been speaking up for Climate Justice at COP29. As the talks conclude, Archbishop Julio Murray, who led the Anglican delegation said:
“As we watch the final stages of COP29 negotiations, we call on leaders to be bolder in working for climate finance that offers hope.
These are questions about life and justice.
It’s vital that we prioritise the lives of human beings at risk from climate disasters and achieve justice for the most vulnerable who have not caused the problems.
The current draft documents lack clarity and accountability. They do little to restore trust through generous financing and instead reflect wider divisions in our world. The voices of youth and indigenous peoples are lacking.
We pray for all negotiating, that they would see each other clearly and find new ways forward. And we pray that our God would enable all of us to move from greed to sufficiency, from despair to hope and from death to life."

This isn’t the result of a war.
It’s the outcome of a barbaric, punitive, medieval style raid against the people of Gaza which has been ongoing now for a year. Supported by our government.
Silence is complicity.
Today’s growth stats show it is slowing. So which politician now has the courage to say the bleedin obvious ?
#Brexit has been bad for trade, bad for growth, bad for our economy and all would be significantly boosted if we at the very least joined the #EU custom union.
Need to support green farming, protecting the environment; and strengthen farmers in their battle with the supermarkets; and impose the same standards on imports as on home produce.

The appointment of RF Kennedy Jnr as US Health Secretary to pursue an anti-vaccine agenda is a new low. A total repudiation of the Enlightenment values on which the US republic is founded. For all of us who admire the US this is a crisis moment. Instead Britain must fly the flag for science and public health.
2024 has been a masterclass in climate destruction:
Biodiversity destroyed in sweltering seas;
Workers collapsing in insufferable heat;
Floods tearing through communities;
Droughts ravaging crops.
All these disasters are supercharged by human-made climate change.
We need #ClimateAction.
And we need it now.
#COP29
Now more than ever climate finance promises must be kept.
We need a new finance goal that meets the moment.
#COP29 must tear down the walls to climate finance.
The world must pay up, or humanity will pay the price.
It's been really disappointing – if not surprising – to see & hear opponents of the Archbishop – & fellow-workers – rushing to public judgement. Be thankful for the decision now taken, but also for the good he has done, & the burdens he has borne. & know we also may be judged.
