We need to break the tied model , high rents and high beer costs . It’s a unique model to our country , highly leveraged companies,

@pub_that I’m encouraging some of my pubs to introduce a simple menu ( ploughman’s , rolls , sarnies, fries, chilli. Curries etc ) back to how pub food started in eighties . Straight forward to train FOH to do

@UKHospKate @squarebistro Also I’m hearing stonegate can’t sell the pubs savills are marketing as all offers are far below book value , all pub co are in negative equity situations. I’m told lots of capital expenditure including emergency repairs are being scaled back . I think 1or 2 of them are toast

@UKHospKate @squarebistro Any tax cut is welcome and needed but a lot of pubs ability to weather hard times has been eroded by the pub co’s high rents and tied beer costs . I’m still arguing rent increase reviews & discounts not being reviewed. Kate are you in discussions with stonegate punch admiral ?

@mitrebarnet Yeah true.. but with such a large proportion of pubs being under the pub co regime , rents are higher thru out the industry which affects all sectors & also lending from banks to freeholders .. get rid of the pub co (150% gearing) then set the the sector free
