@saintdiamond1 He has a plan, but it’s not the right one. Pragmatic by nature which means in the big games or when pressures on, he will always default to what he’s knows. England will continue to flatter against easier sides until a different mindset is brought in I.e a Dowson & Vesty comes in
If England are to play a 10man kicking game, then pick, Spencer, a bigger back row, a back three that can catch and a coupe of bruisers in midfield.
If you are going to play fast, pick 3 7s, a speedster wing, a play making midfield.
Not sure Borthwick has a plan. Who we pick and how we play seems at odds.
@RugbyInsideLine I’d have no problem with Freeman at 15. He’s played there for Northampton. I personally think he’d excel there. And the move makes sense with the talent available on the wing. It creates an extremely dangerous attacking back three.
Back home reflecting on @SaintsRugby game. Best team won on the day - more aggressive at the breakdown & better at punching holes. Injuries at the start didn’t help - changed Saints shape & game plan. The ref - poor -I’m being generous. Finally pride - to a man, fought to the end
