Twitter has become 99% useless to me, and lately its serving me mostly uninteresting content. So I’m going to say bye bye to this platform. Sincere thanks to all the interesting people I’ve met, and so long. @ianring will continue to exist for posterity and contact purposes. 👋
Important question of the day. Is the “know it” from “happy and you know it” that appears just before “really want to show it”, is that a iv minor or IV major? What pitch is “know”? Flat six or major six? Answer without looking it up please.
@musescore in case you run out of feature requests (haha) I’d like a better way to achieve accel and rit in playback, possibly with playback automation like you’d see in GarageBand/Logic. Currently I have to use a plug-in and it makes the MusicXML into a total mess.
@570NEWS says rain all day, whilst students at CHCI still aren’t allowed a locker to store their wet rain gear. So... dripping umbrellas and boots will be hauled from class to class. The school board says lockers are allowed.
"...we need more green business savvy people and climate activists right now in Ottawa and you are one of the...communities that can actually deliver that."
Grateful to have your support, @glen4climate!

@12tonevideos I appreciate the attention to detail! But FWIW you could do an episode on construction paper with a wax crayon, and it would no less educational. And your fans would not be aghast.
@Komaniecki_R Make sure you also learn a trade or some other skills with which you can earn a living because for an overwhelming majority of music grads, a vanishingly small portion of income comes from music. Also: don’t be cocky.
@BillBainbridge5 @NineStringEric @vcmusictheory Oh, even self-published is legit imho. Or a blog post. Whatever! If it’s visible to other humans in some public way, they might want to google a scale name and find its spectrum variation or interval vector or whatever, and that’s why i would want your names in my list.
@BillBainbridge5 @NineStringEric @vcmusictheory Things that are Herculean for a spreadsheet can often be whipped up fairly quickly in Python; it has excellent support for high precision math operations and large scale number-crunching.
@BillBainbridge5 @NineStringEric @vcmusictheory That’s right you owe me some names! I’ll want to import them once they’re published and “final”. That’s kind of my gauge for whether to add a name; (if it isn’t incorrect, or offensive), it should be “out there” in some published way.
@BillBainbridge5 @NineStringEric @vcmusictheory I’m also working on a book, but it doesn’t include anything inventive, it’s more like a reference book, or a field guide for navigating the universe of 12-TET
@BillBainbridge5 @NineStringEric @vcmusictheory I’m glad you’re putting all of this into a book. Your musings on Twitter are always fascinating, and I’m eager to see what comes of organizing these thoughts into a big thing with chapters and everything
@BillBainbridge5 @NineStringEric @vcmusictheory Sometimes I’m confused (in writings) btw a “modal family” and a “class set”, where the former is just rotations/modes and the latter includes reflections/inversion. There are times when one or the other is pertinent but the language isn’t clear. Forte’s classes include inversion
