@JonnElledge Try something like this and see if it works then - they claim 200m range but that obviously only works if there aren’t trees and walls in the way. If it doesn’t then there are more expensive dish/receiver setups that require direct line of sight https://t.co/Pa9OspM23Q
@duncanrobinson@JonnElledge Worth considering this "revelation" in tandem with the generation divide emerging between those who still view "working class" as primarily cultural and those who are now more likely to view it as primarily economic (and which side of that divide most news journos will fall on)
@alexhern And ofc they do have to charge more now just because that was always the plan eventually when the VC party was coming to an end, but if they can get away with it in places like London and NYC then they can keep that coverage in non-profitable areas alive to an extent.
@alexhern They seem to value the "frictionless experience" above most other things, is my read on it. You get the Uber habit, you don't lose it, so they want to make sure that you can always get a hit rather than fall back to public transit again, even if you're out in the sticks.
@alexhern@thomaswilliams And the Elizabeth line has been one of the most high-profile digging exercises in recent history, much like the fune- [hurriedly bundled into gym bag and left in bath]
@owenhatherley @JonnElledge @paulduanefilm There are geographic continents in the sense of tectonics (eg Zealandia), but they don't really map onto socially constructed continents neatly. In many parts of the world N/S America and Europe/Asia are considered regional labels rather than outright continents.
