The Green candidate in Makerfield stood down after posting the attack on Jewish ambulances in North London was a “false flag”.
In the latest episode of Double Down Newswatch we do a deep dive into this story and conclude – it’s murky. (32.43)

❌ £1.5 billion of investment into Scotland was blocked by the UK Government.
💰 Now the company is taking that investment to other European countries instead.
Another masterstroke from Labour... 🙃

Sorry Josh you are not putting your constituents or your country first as you claim. You are putting your party first. If you are putting your constituents first then you wouldn’t be using tax payers money on 2 unnecessary by elections. Elections do not come cheap for councils
For decades, Westminster has overseen the managed decline of towns like mine. We have talked big, then acted small, stuck in a politics of incrementalism that cannot meet the moment. We have lost the trust of those our party was built to serve.
It is my unwavering belief that nothing short of urgent, radical, courageous reform will make a difference. That must start with a change in leadership.
Today, I am putting the people I represent and the country I love first and will be resigning as MP for Makerfield. I am standing aside so that Andy Burnham can return to his home, fight to re-enter Parliament, and if elected, drive the change our country is crying out for.
This has not been an easy decision. This is my family’s home, where only a few weeks ago, doctors and nurses at Wigan Infirmary saved our newborn son’s life.
But we all must make choices and in recent days I found myself with a difficult one: defend the status quo or step forward and act. I have made my choice.
I am in politics because politics is how you change lives for the better. My party has one last chance to do that: deliver for the people and places I represent, drive economic growth, secure our borders, reform our state and politics, and change a status quo that is not working.
That is the fight. I believe Andy is the one to lead it.
The point I make if Reform were to win the next GE then no matter how bad Farage performs there is no mechanism to remove him. Democracy does not exist in the Reform party don’t be fooled
Starmer’s future is on the line, like the Tories the PM can be unseated and re elected by the party.
Let’s be clear about this if this was Reform there is no party procedure to remove the leader. The party have no say on who the leader will be he is self appointed
To those with poor memories
Queensferry Crossing - fully funded
M8 / M74 road upgrades - 85% funded
Aberdeen WPR - fully funded
Pitcaple inveramsay bridge -fully funded
All funded by SNP Scot Govt
Non of these would have been built by a Westminster govt.
Another day with no gas used in Scotland to generate electricity but all of our bills based on high cost gas. We can't sort this in the UK. We can only fix it by leaving.
Meanwhile, Scotland, Wales and the north of Ireland have all elected pro-independence governments. Westminster cannot keep denying the democratic wishes of the people who live there.
Starmer is leading a zombie Labour Party. If he stays, the rot deepens. If he goes, Reform will tear through whoever replaces him. From Brexit and Boris Johnson to Labour offering more of the same, Westminster is in a death spiral. Scotland needs independence.
@HoodedClaw1974@JohnAnd46093384 How about the Celtic nations deciding for you whether England will become independent. Now that sounds like a great plan
@gensynergy What was? saving Scunthorpe ??
If you are talking about Grangemouth energy is reserved and WM had the power to nationalise if they so wish to instead they chose to pile money into a refinery in England
Starmer keeps mentioning Labours choice.Let’s look at some of labours choice
Closing Grangemouth
Nationalise steel in England
Remove winter fuel payment
Increase NI forcing many SME into liquidation
Failure to put measures to reduce fuel costs
Thats some of labours choices
If Reform had won in Scotland/ Wales it wd be an endorsement of detention centres, migrant hostility, austerity & welfare cuts. Question Time panels wd be full of it. But the SNP & pro indy Scottish Greens HAVE won, yet that's not an endorsement of independence. Go figure.
The most striking thing for me about Thursday’s election is the growth in support for the SNP under John Swinney.
SNP support in 2024 = 30%
SNP support in 2026 = 38.2%
That’s an over 27% growth in overall support since 2024. Say what you will, but that is remarkable.
This afternoon Michelle O’Neill and I spoke with @RhunapIorwerth of Plaid Cymru and @JohnSwinney of the SNP on their historic election results. The demand for independence is growing. We look forward to working together in common cause. 🇮🇪🏴🏴
