@s3pt3mb3r_m00@Lol8ball It's quite simple actually. If you are indeed calling yourself a fan, do you not want to support the people who make the content you base your entire online identity around?
@AoiAmore It's exceptionally insane since they seem to have all this time to "watch" playthroughs but can't follow one 20 minute video on how to hack a cheap device to play nearly every game they talk about
These people are actually correct because what they all mean by "fan" has nothing to do with the content of a work itself. It's 100% about libidinal investment in "characters" (made static, abstracted from any plot) and participation in discursive fandom/"headcanon" economies
@angrloo198 They're not even watching them dude, they put it on in the background while doing other shit. These kids' dopamine receptors are so fried it's no wonder they can't be stimulated from a single screen with minimal input anymore. They gotta have a phone scrolling soundtrack by YT.
@JulesEsport@loveteaaf Lmfao well I see we've finally reached the inevitable stage of "everyone who disagrees with me is a facist/nazi/buzzword" on the newest video game discourse. Do you people ever have a brief moment of lucidity where you become self aware or is it just delusional thoughts 24/7?
@togataonline Apps and op systems are being designed to become convenience engines that do all the work for you while taking ownership and customization away to mold the ideal consumer. These companies bank on ignorance and laziness and sadly it appears to be working.
@biggieU_U Lol it's 100% this. Scope out the bios of the most ardent defenders replying and you'll see their entire online presence is based around their obsession with a character or franchise.
