The most incredible book about the 8th Army's negligence of rear base area logistics, written in 1966 by someone there in Cairo and Tunisia. It has it all - organised crime, senior level corruption, gross incompetence, sexual favours, deserters living in gin palaces....blimey.

My friend in South Africa told me they've become used to power outages for maybe 5 hours at a time — which is what Kyiv, on a good day, is dealing with. Why is a country not at war going through these outages for years? Corruption has to be the answer.
