I've long said we're at risk of losing essentially everything due to global heating - all of modern life, much of life on Earth, billions of human lives, our super habitable planet. More and more climate scientists are coming to see this. Please start listening
@mpembery@jackelliot2012@ViewFromTheQ@scattydove You’ll be fine at 8:30, they keep letting people in to join the queue all night. I arrived 9:15pm last night, and this morning I see people who clearly arrived much later than that with tents.
Yesterday parts of the US south experienced wetbulb temperatures up to 94F (34.5C). At these temperatures, no amount of shade or hydration can save you. Without AC, you die. And this is just the beginning.

1/ I've said this before, many times, but let me be very clear: H5N1 is closer than it has ever been - by an order of magnitude - to mutating to efficient human to human transmission. If that occurs - and remember, it could occur today - globally, we could not be in a worse...
@Centrefuter@bertil_hatt Why the hell would you listen to what a Wall Street oil baron has to say about this topic rather than countless actual climate scientists?
@zcarbon58@RogerHallamCS21 If I say “you will miss your flight if you don’t leave for the airport in the next 10 minutes”, and 11 minutes later you say “Ha, look, the plane hasn’t taken off yet!”, have you really proven me wrong?
@isaac_kh@ellaisrlyonline (Not only support in a medical sense, but also legal, academic, etc – which is often dependent on the psychiatrist’s rubber stamp)
@isaac_kh@ellaisrlyonline Right. But until such a time as provision of NHS psych services is anywhere close to adequate, the material consequence of attempts like this to discredit private psychiatry – even though it *is* often v questionable! – is to restrict and undermine many people’s access to support
