I met @therealec3 in the summer of 2022. At the time, I was just a friend of a friend whose only real experience in the business was training the year before. I had no background in filming, but after helping shoot a few videos and simply showing up with my friends, he took a chance on me.
He brought me behind the curtain. He taught me. More than that, he did not just validate my opinions, he trusted them.
When he first brought up the idea of moving to Cleveland to start a wrestling promotion that did not even have a name yet, I laughed it off. Logically, it sounded insane to pack up my life and move across the country for an idea. Over time though, I realized it would be even more insane not to.
So I did.
My first night in Cleveland, we went out for steaks (as is tradition). As a Miami kid, seeing Bernie Kosar that night was cool, but that’s not what stuck with me. What stuck with me was walking out of that restaurant and hearing him say “welcome home.” In that moment, what started as a friendship became something much deeper. A brotherhood.
He took me on the road. He let me tag along, bringing me with him when there was absolutely no benefit to him, still driving his car, still making the towns. He introduced me to everyone he could and made sure I had time with each of them to learn. After every show, without fail, he would ask me one simple question, “what did you learn?”
He broke down matches, creative, production, parts of wrestling I never imagined I would get access to.
But more than anything, he taught by example.
The late nights writing match reviews for talent he had never even met, just because “they respect me enough to ask”. The hours he spent editing videos for our growing Exodus roster, making sure up and coming talent had something to showcase themselves. The detailed breakdowns he wrote after every show, not just to better us as a promotion, but to give every wrestler the tools to grow as professionals. He consistently filled his own hotel rooms, with Exodus talent just to make sure they were given any and every opportunity he can put in front of them.
That level of dedication to a group of guys and girls we barely even knew at the time is what stuck with me.
The things no one sees. The things that make him different.
Through all the growing pains, while I was learning how to navigate the weirdest job in the world, he continued to trust me. He gave me opportunities I probably had no business having yet and helped me grow into them.
With an incredible team of friends and one of the best rosters a promoter could ask for, we have built something special with Exodus. Something different.
But today isn’t about that.
In 2023, EC3 came home to Cleveland.
