The govt and OFSTED are wilfully ignoring the unspeakable damage one word judgements do. Why? I don’t understand. The profession has spoken so loudly on these grades. Yes, there are still those who buy in despite everything that’s happened, but most are absolutely set against. A lot of parents are happy to see change. Why stick with a position after what happened to Ruth Perry? It should have changed people.
Today is the one year anniversary of Ruth Perry’s death. Yellow and green ribbons have been used to represent suicide awareness and mental health awareness for years but they are also the colours of Caversham Primary School and why I use the ribbon for my profile picture...
Two weeks of mental health training for school inspectors is just not sufficient. Root and branch reform to Ofsted is urgently needed.

If that really is the case, why not organise a get together involving senior people at Ofsted and DfE and see what can be worked out? Think about the well-being of school staff. Think about Ruth Perry and all those who've suffered. We need change - now.
But the key point hasn't changed. We have the same framework, the same summary judgements, the same high stakes. These are the things that are causing the damage. Are Ofsted really telling us that they can do nothing about this and it's all down to the DfE? 5/
And yet another article recognising that what happened in Caversham should really make us think about how we go about accountability and improvement in this country. https://t.co/AJ2NvZPZr6
“I lost colleagues whilst I was working each day and the government has barely acknowledged that fact… People were dying in front of us & the morgues were full. We had no body bags left in the trust.”
Please listen to this heart-rending testimony 😔

Rishi Sunak said this week that "nobody wants a general election".
Well it seems that more than 110,000 people do so far.

@benkarlin1 Inspector arrives at the end of the day- story and pack up time in Reception. I told the inspector “all hands on deck for this one so helping with bags and zips is a grown up job, you can take care of that group” this is the only time I found ofsted helpful
A superb explanation of the catastrophic failure of this government to protect teacher supply to our schools. We are in a dire situation as this clip shows
Huge thanks to the brilliant people who contributed to this article in The Times about Ofsted and the impact on the mental health of me and my colleagues. Hopefully, positive change will happen and soon. #ForRuth

Can honestly say that I feel so much better being able to speak openly & honestly about Ofsted & the impact on my mental health. Finally feel empowered to speak up for what we've all known, all along, that things must change. I hope it's encouraged other people to do the same.
.@Ofstednews drives good teachers and school leaders away from the profession through creating unnecessary workload and stress. It’s time to #ReplaceOfsted.

@RogersHistory Everywhere… I left the classroom last year after 21 years. I miss the children but I don’t want to be part of a system which does not care about them… not it cares about us…
I don’t see why we need to keep @Ofstednews to deliver safeguarding reviews of schools. We could abolish Ofsted and replace with a specific safeguarding authority who can review their new remit. The gains from abolishing Ofsted far outweigh the losses, and they can be managed.
